20 min after checking in I broke my wrist in All Star Sports arcade, started to chase my son who took off. Ambulance came, went to hospital, got cast, WDW came back an got mewhen we were done (just me and my 9 year old twins) and unfortunatelly it was an accident, Disney told me they could do nothing to help me, couldn't use the hopper passes. I drove from Philly and wanted them to hep me get home, cause I couldn't drive and just wanted them to fly someone down to help me home and they said "not their problem". I have been at WDW 8 times, never stayed in the park and this time was a disaster. I will go back though, and will write a letter complaining (too much to write with one hand). Anyway, the vouchers were wonderful (the best part of the trip).
Sorry to be a downer, will go back, not sure if I will stay in the park again tho.

Blondie !!!
PS.. the charter breakfast was awesome, did get to do that , with the vouchers...

What prevented you from using your hopper passes?

checked in Tuesday @5:30 pm and broke the wrist at 5:50, got prescriptions for medications and couldn't get them filled (had no way of getting to pharmacy and the one DW reffered me to didn't take prescription cards so was in the room until Thursday because of the pain and checked out Friday morning..

I am really sorry that your trip turned out so badly. I don't understand though, why you thought it was Disney's responsibility to fly someone down to drive you home? Do you think an offsite hotel would have?

And even if you couldn't find a pharmacy in the area that took your insurance (which seems strange) why didn't you just pay for the meds and have your insurance reimburse you?

Aw man...that sucks!

But I would've done as previously posted, paid for the pain meds, then had my insurance reimburse me somehow! Nobody should suffer in pain!

Sorry your trip didn't turn out as you had planned. :(

Sorry you broke your wrist, but I have to agree with the other posters, I don't think it was Disney's fault or their responsibility to fly you home. Save your park hoppers for your next trip! ;)

sorry about your accident.i agree with the other posters,i would not have expected Disney to do anything.

I also agree with the previous posters...I think I would have paid for the pain meds...and I don't think I would have expected Disney to fly anybody down....Bad luck but not there responsibilty

I have to agree with the others. I don't feel it's Disney's responsibility to fly someone down to help you get home as it wasn't anything that WDW did to cause the accident.

I KNEW there would be a ton of posts saying "It's NOT Disney's fault" before I read past the original post! Now, I'm not saying it IS Disney's fault BUT the original poster never detailed the exact details of her slip and fall. Yes, she did try to catch up with her son but we don't even know if she tripped over some debris on the floor, was it wet or unkept? Every business (even Disney) shares some responsibility for it's guests safety. Thats why there is insurance and rules for sanitation, clean ups, etc. Perhaps, before we become judge and jury, we should find out what caused the fall.

I am so sorry your trip was such a bummer. I hope you are feeling better. Not sure if Disney was at fault but I hope you get a response from your letter.

well first of all I don't "think" it was Disney's respnsibility to pay for someone, legally, but morally I think it would have been nice for them to be nicer about the whole situation, unstead of saying "not my prblem", it is a family friendly supposedly resort and I did pay to go there, I don't want to start anything, it is just my opinion. There are no signs sayin "no running" and, well I just think they should have been nicer, that is all. did I trip over anything, no, Actually I never started running. As far as the medication, I didn't have the extra money to pay for it. A manager offered to drive me to get it and was supposed to tell the night manager and they never did, y the time I called back, it was 9:00 pm , too late. They never told me about the "pay for it yourself pharmacy "tuerner", til that 9:00 pm phone call the night after (wed) night.

The moral of the story I guess is, if you are a single person going with kids, be more careful and don't try to get your kids to go to dinner and cancel your reservations. Oh yea forgot to mention, my kids are "special needs kids.

Hope you all had a wonderful Holiday, I am off to the dr.

I am sitting here thinking "I can't believe that someone would actually think that Disney would fly someone down for them in the case of a broken wrist that they had nothing to do with" !! and write and complain about it!!

I hope your wrist gets better quickly and that you were able to enjoy at least a little bit of the trip. At least the hoppers are good forever so next trip you won't have to pay for tickets again.

Just wanted to add a gentle reminder to be nice. :)

I hope this doesn't come off harsh because by all means I don't mean it to be, but it appears WDW did go out of their way. The picked you up after you got the cast and offered to take you to get Meds. There is no way I would expect WDW to fly someone down to help you get back home unless it was clearly their fault at which I believe to avoid legal action they would have done so. And as far as the "No running" being posted, just my opinion but that is the responsibility of the parents. I am truly sorry you had a miserable time, but accidents happen and when they do, we just have to make the most out of them. Please, if it was not their fault, then do not write them complaining.

And Blondie, I agree if you are unhappy then put it in writing but not when it has nothing to do with normal services provided.

If WDW had indeed provided the financial backing to pay for a friend or family member to fly down from Philadelphia, my understanding is then that would have been an admission of guilt in a court of law. If you were to be litigious, that court would then ask WDW why they felt the need to pay any money if they were in fact not guilty of negligence. Action that results in admission of guilt in a court of law would immediately give the plaintiff the upper hand, whether the defendant was truly guilty or not. So their refusal is quite simply, a smart business decision. I'd have done the same! I'm just sorry you weren't able to enjoy your vacation.
Finally, by virtue of allowing their cast members to assist you with car rides, etc... does indeed tell me that they still value a high level of customer service AND they do indeed care about you as a person. Not sure if anyone else would agree, but I've never heard of any corporation who gives the personal touch to that degree!
Just my thoughts. No, I'm not a lawyer.

I'm sorry you hurt yourself. It really can ruin a vacation, and broken bones HURT. I would have put the meds on a credit card and figured it out later.

A few years back dd climbed up on a brick retaining wall in front of Prime Time Cafe'. She fell and cut her face open. Disney quickly gave us new shirts because of the blood, took us to the ER, gave us a ride back, and would have taken us to the pharmacy if need be.

I couldn't imagine them doing much more than that. It was MY fault dd got hurt. I should have been paying closer attention to her. There were no signs saying don't climb here but knowing that is common sense, just as not running where you were is too. Accidents happen. Disney can't be held responsible for everything that happens on their property.

I wrote them a letter when I got home. I thanked them for their quick reponse, for the sweatshirts and for the ride to and from the hospital.

I hope your wrist is better and that you are now making plans for next years trip to Disney! :)

So sorry you had such a disappointing vacation.
