I responded that they could put their concerns to rest and that I was perfectly capable of getting my glassware clean. I thanked them for the response and let them know that I would be sharing their comments with you guys.

WHAT?! Oh please, what a lame excuse. How are these mugs and glasses supposed to be cleaned during our 3 days between maid service? Surely our hand cleaning with dish soap for our germs is just as sufficient as hand cleaning someone else's. They better have a free supply of the disposables at AP or I'm complaining mightily to SSR's Front Desk staff next month.

At least it sounds like they're rethinking their reactionary decision. They just need to do some more thinking. Or else risk pissing off the majority of DVC members just by virtue of their resort.

I'm glad to see they are not only looking out for the cleanliness issue, but also at least thinking about the environmental impact of using all paper products in the studios. It looks like only those of us at OKW and SSR will still see the paper for awhile.

So, if I am understanding this response correctly - if we were to call and ask for real glasses/coffee mugs during our stay at OKW and SSR, then they would still provide us with those?

thanks for posting the reply- I am surprised the responded. :confused3 They should put this response on the DVC membership site.

I'm sorry this whole response is insane...what about transporting the glasses and mugs in the glassware carts that most hotels utilize, you bring them in clean and sanitized and remove them after the guests stay and replenish them with the sanitized ones...so getting this straight some dvc properties can have glassware the rest are to suck it up and use plastic or styrofoam give me break if you can transport clean bed linens what is the issue with glasses??? Campus properties or not really disney grow up and figure out a way to service all your members and guests it really can't be that hard...

I received the same response today. I suppose I am happy that I can still get glasses if I request them.

It has been posted there, although you'll have to go looking for it. Under the latest news section, click on "view all news." You'll find it there.

These seems like a reasonable response to me...:confused3 Clearly, the policy came about after that report about glassware in hotels rooms that by now I am sure everyone has seen.

Sounds like DVC is looking at a variety of options...from installing DW units at the stand-alones, to different types of eco-friendly products.

Look, they had to do something and do it immediately. To me, this is a LOUD admission that they had been cleaning the glassware in studios the exact same way as that news report. :scared1: So, they stopped doing that immediately...and are using the styrofoam as an immediate solution (band-aid) until they decide what to do permanently.

I don't like the idea of disposables either (I like drinking out of REAL glassware and ceramic), but this is obviously just a transition time while they figure out what the permanent solution will be.

I got the same email. Thats fine with me. Now-if you want them just call and ask for them and if you don't want them then don't ask for them. Simple enough.

I appreciate that we can call mousekeeping and have real mugs/glasses sent to the studio. Watching the sunrise on the verandah with coffee in a styrofoam cup just doesn't have the same appeal.
but i do have to wonder, when they remove the glassware from my studio after i depart, how are those dishes being washed?:confused3
