Got a Kitten, about 2 months old, and the kids love her, our other two cats have decided we are the devil and won't come near us. They got used to the human kids, so I figure they will get used to the kitten in time.

My question is feeding. The older cats are 10 and 9, and obviously the kitten needs kitten food. Would it be bad for the next year to give all the cats kitten food? The older ones have started eating hers, and she has been getting into thiers. I figure the older ones are almost seniors so I thought kitten food might be good for their teeth.

Is there a flaw in my logic?

Let me know because I don't want to do anythng that would hurt any of them. I just don't know how to keep the food seperate.

When I used to keep dry food out for our 2 cats, they were always on kitten food. I think that the brands we used (Petguard and LickYourChops) had 1 formula for kittens/cats and another for senior cats. We never had any issues from a caloric standpoint, but ultimately we had to discontinue the dry food alltogether because having dry food at all was making one of the cats sick.

So is that a yes, it is okay? My cat has decided that she is eating all the kitten food in sight, so my answer may be that. If it is decidedly bad for my adult cats to eat kitten food, let me know!

That's a yes, it's OK in my opinion anyways. Neither of my cats ever had a weight issue, so I figured that the extra calories from the kitten food didn't do any harm. Now, if your cat starts getting chunky from gorging on kitten food, it may be time to reevaluate the situation ;)

I would separate the kitten and feed her kitten food until she is about five or six months old. After that, it's ok to put them all on adult food.

I would call a vet. Senior cats need special food, or at least adult food. I think it would be better for the kitten to have regular food then the adult cats to have kitten food. Something with their uniary tracts or something.

I'd feed them separately. We have a "fat cat" ;) and we try to keep him and his much thinner brother separate because we are trying to monitor his intake. I wouldn't suggest feeding them kitten food from a caloric standpoint unless your vet approves. ::yes::
