Got a confirmed 2 Bed AKV thru RCI can I request a Savannah view?

I just got lucky and got a 2 bedroom at AK through RCI. Can I request a Savannah View after DVC receives my exchange from RCI???

No. Your unit was drawn from a specific view---generally either Standard or Savannah---and that's what you'll get. It cannot be changed, absent some problem at the resort such as a room going out of service forcing a move.

If the exchange was Weeks-side, you can call RCI and they can tell you the "unit code". If it has the letters STD as part of the code, it is Standard. If it has SAV, it is Savannah. If it was Points-side, you will have to wait until the record is transferred to DVC---about a week or two---at which time you can call Member Services on the 800 number listed on the confirmation.

For the other resorts with views: OKW typically only deposits General Resort. BWV typically only deposits Preferred--Pool/Garden. Bay Lake is not yet known, I don't think---only a handful have been deposited, and they do not occur until 2012---but I'll go out on a limb and guess that most deposits will Lake.

As Brian noted, you will get what was deposited but it may very well be savannah view. We're there in around a month with 2 units and both (1 & 2 BR) are Savannah view Kidani. My experience on BWV has been different than Brian's in that I think a reasonable % has been standard view, at least in the past. DVC normally won't even change you from a L/O to a dedicated or vice versa.

My issue with the room we got through RCI on points was that even after I confirmed with DVC that it was a savanna view room, it turned out to be standard view when we checked in to Kidani. The "manager" there told us all RCI exchanges into DVC were for standard views only. Obviously no longer true based on the previous posts in this thread though.

As I stated before, something happened as this is the only time I've seen this be an issue. Either you were incorrectly told that it was a Savannah view room, there was a rogue CM at AKV or your room was given away and you were incorrectly told this to cover themselves. I've stayed at AKV now with 4 different rooms and always gotten the unit type deposited. DVC is normally very meticulous in this area. A couple of years ago at VB, I offered to take a 1 BR instead of a 2 simply because we didn't need the extra BR for that trip. I was told they couldn't change anything about the reservation even if it was to their advantage.
