I'm staying at my home resort VWL in Jan. I got a call today saying welcome home, thanks for booking, etc. and asking if they could help me with setting up the DP, purchasing park tickets, or setting up my FP times. Interesting! Anyone else get this type of call? When we went to WDW in June no one called.

My guess is that the call was from the sales division trying to find out if you would ask about adding on. The regular MS CM's are still trying to catch up since the MB changes.

I talked to them. It was the welcome home dept or something. She didn't ask me about adding on at all.

Probably a preemptive call to see if you were having any problems with MyDisney Experience linking, FP+ and so forth.

I recently had a survey e-mailed to me about member services and it was focused on 'if having a personal CM who would work with us every time we book a vacay'...if that would be a benefit versus us calling in MS and getting different folks each time. It also wanted to know if we use the online member site versus calling in to MS. I think they must be going the way of personal vacation planners who we'd be assigned and work with to make all our trip arrangements.

scrolling thru my caller ID looking for a phone number I noticed that a 407 number identified as Disney vacation club called my house 3 times yesterday. we have an upcoming trip in a month too but figured if it was important they'd have left a message.

When I called they also let me reset my DVC member account to match the login and password of my MDE account. They mentioned it and asked if I was having access issues. Glad that was handled. So it was good that they called.

Just interesting to get such a personal call though!

This is a new service that Member Services has created. It was mentioned at the annual DVC Member meeting yesterday, by Ken Potrock, VP and General Manager for Disney Vacation Club. Other enhancements and perks are coming and will be announced soon.

New DVC members will have an assigned cast member to help them with the process of learning the points system. All members will have an assigned cast member to assist them with upcoming vacation plans, dining reservations, tickets, etc.

Sounds like something they may have learned from a cruise line. I haven't been on a Disney cruise, but I know Carnival assigns you a contact person. I went on a Carnival sailing with friends in September, and they sent me an email with some specials, so I was just poking around on their website the other day, and even though I didn't book anything my cruise adviser called to see if I had any questions, or wanted to book.

If they don't go overboard with the idea, I think it will be nice to have a single primary contact person for MS. Assuming they are a knowledgeable CM. As we all know there are wonderful CMs and there is the occasional less than stellar CM.

I've been on DCL cruises. I never had a point person. However, maybe that's because I used an outside travel agent. The person from MS at DVC did not assign herself to me. She just said call back and someone will help me. I had to call back because I was about to go into a meeting at the time when she first called.

CCL will assign you a PVP, Personal Vaction Planner & will continue to contact you via email every time u click upon their website unless you log out of your account.;) I tend to receive a phone call every quarter and when the 'special rates' we are eligible for are released as well as emails for every sales/itinerary release, etc..

This makes no sense to me. Owners were getting these calls a couple of weeks ago while others were waiting on hold with MS for 40 to 60 minutes???

Adding this extra service may seem nice but owners pay for them to call us, I would rather see the extra cost put to rehabbing the rooms or inspecting the rooms to do a better job cleaning and maintaining.

Hi!

I got one of those calls a few weeks ago - and I just thought it was because we have a VGF reservation we received a courtesy call ;)

Ditto!

I actually didn't find the call necessary. They'd already sent me an email with the same info. I think this is a Disney marketing thing tough. If I have my tickets, bands, and FP+ reservations I'm committed to being inside the parks and will hopefully spend more $$ while I'm there. It's unfortunate that this effort could decrease access to MS by members. I think it's a completely unnecessary service.
