Got a call from DVC last night, need your input

Thanks Mickey_Maniac, count me in with the most popular items - no need to list them all here again.

Have a magical stay. Keep us posted with the feedback.

My thanks to all of you for providing so much good feedback. It gives us that much more ammunition to bring to the focus group. Maybe some of the other DVC'ers that got selected will bring this info too.

From some of the other posts, I understand that I cannot take notes out of there, so I will do my best to remember as much as possible and report when we get back.

Leaving tomorrow morning, wish you were all coming too. Talk to you later...

Just bumping this up

...curious to see if this "focus group" happened and, if so, what went on...results?

Forgive me if someone's mentioned this, but I'd like the resort after SSR to be created using the OKW layout/design/roomsizes. I can usually get into OKW when I want but that won't be always the case.

FRONT OF THE LINE ACCESS like staying at US-if not mentioned yet.

In no particular order:
1-10% property wide discount
2-Online management of accounts
3-West Coast DVC property

Have a great trip!

When booking on the Disney Cruise ships there should be a computer link to advise DVC members the cruise is being discounted. There could be several options:

1) The cash price should be offered to DVC members and they could decide if they want to use points or cash.

2) They could offer to let the DVC member use their points at a discount. As we know we purchased DVC in order to receive superior accomdations at a subtantial savings.

By way of some background, last Jan. 2003 we booked on the Wonder and used our points. The next day after booking the cruise steeply discounted. If I had known this the same day I would have paid cash because the cruise was offered at $399 with a $100 ship credit being offered. Needless to say our points were significantly more valuable than the cash price being offered. When I discussed this issue with MS they advised me there was no computer link with the company booking the cruise. This may present an opportunity to improve the communicatins and better service to DVC members.

Thank you for offering to share this information at the focus group. Good luck!!

The problem with the cruise suggestion, mickeyc, is that those deals are negotiated in advance between DVC and Disney -- two different entities. DVC gives Disney your point availability for cash customers at the DVC resorts when you trade out. That amount is set to a specific number based on the likelihood Disney feels they have of making that money back on another reservation. Offering discounts after the fact just can't happen, the deal has been made. Keep in mind that it could also go the other way. A cruise could be in very high demand and sell for full retail, giving you a great deal on points.

And yes, DVC does give you fantastic accomodations at a great price, but at the DVC-owned resorts. Other Disney resorts and the DCL can not be calculated in that. They are no part of the ownership and not bound by the same policies. Those prices can and DO go up as they are negotiated annually. There is also wording in the contract that at some time, however unlikely, that option could go away entirely.

I voted on the poll, but thought I would post here as well. I like the 10% property wide discount, or a discount equivalent to Florida Resident Discount (call it a DVC discount if you have to) or at the very least a discount on AP's.
