Has anyone tried this? It is really cool! I typed in the address for MK (311 world drive bay lake fl) and you can see an arial map of it! I also did Epcot (forgot the address) but couldn't get AK or MGM...

I do suggest trying it although I will warn you it is HIGHLY addictive! :hippie:

Yes, myDD did this for me a couple of weeks ago. She was able to get all of Disney World. It's really cool. :cool1: :cheer2: :wizard:

Can you tell me what she typed in to get ALL of WDW? So far I only found MK...

I think it's neat! I followed the monorail from MK to Epcot :sunny: I couldn't see MGM park or the Epcot/MGM resorts though.

They haven't updated anything south of Boardwalk with the high resolution photos yet. I wish they would hurry up! :badpc: :badpc:

The following instructions will probably seem very cryptic if you are new to Google Earth. If I could explain it better I would... If you can understand what I am guiding you to do, you will experience an "in the world experience". You will get the sensation that you are sitting on top of a moving monorail.

Zoom in on the monorail track (personally I like a long straight length of track similar to the section between Epcot and the toll booths for the Magic Kingdom. Move the image so that you center the monorail track in the middle of your screen and the the track is is perpendicular to your screen / line of sight. Lower your elevation and using the tilt feature, tilt the image DOWN so that you can see out the "front window" of the monorail... "Grab" the image near the top of your screen and pull in towards you, pulling the mouse on the same path as the track. The image on the screen will continue to glide forward...

Play with it, you'll get the hang of it!

its very fun and highly addicting!

also live.local.com is good for it too

the magic kingdom is in MUCH better quality

ya know what, i may just go look now!

We did it as well and zoomed in on the old runway. Its kind of funny, there is one lone bus parked on it.

...you can see...

the HUGE Mickey lake by the parking area
the boundaries of the Disney property (follow the carve outs in the land, often defined by the canal)
the road the Parade goes along after Main Street to get back to the start in MK
the layout of the Jungle Cruise
the power plant to the North of MK, as well as some of the dorms for college students/interns

what else?

I need exact addresses to type in besides the one I have for MK...ANYONE?!?! My addiction is getting the best of me :badpc:

I really like looking at the Grand Floridian! (our home away from home!) I have visited "Google Earth" since this past summer and it was very nice to see, especially since we are looking forward to our next Disney trip!

anyone? princess:

I downloaded it....when it is searching and the earth moves - it FREAKS me out.

I used MSN Earth (which is now live local), and just used the map, clicking in to where I want to go - no need to enter and address (expecially until now I didn't know the address!). Using a map, I was wandering all over the place - didn't look like wall to wall people, so not sure when the pictures were taken!

I didn't use any addresses I just told it to go to walt disney world as it got closer different locations were already marked although some incorrectly. I believe one of them had the Animal Kingdom in the parking lot for EPCOT. highly addicting I was almost late for work today because of it!! :thumbsup2

If you want to see something really strange, do as Mickey0216 instructs, but then instead of clicking and dragging the picture, double click right at the top of the picture. It will look like you are hopping along sections of the track. :cool1: :cool1:

Also, a few other items of interest...

If you look real carefully at the canal along the left side of the MK, you can see the floats for the Electrical Water Pageant.

Look to the NE of SpMtn in the MK, you will see the boneyard for the old 20K subs.

Look just to the south of the CR, you can see a monorail about to enter the resort.

Look in front of the castle, you cannsee that there is a show going on.

I could do this all night...

YES! It's amazing! I love the Mickey head you can see from pretty far up. Seeing the castle from Google Earth made my day since I'm obsessed with Disney. Haha. Who here isn't?

here it goes... If I have misidentified anything, please (politely) tell me...

As noted in a prior post, the real street address does not always match up with what Google Earth shows. With that restated below are a few addresses / locations. You may need to move the image around a little. In some cases I used longitude and latitude vs. street address for the location.

Copy and paste the address / location to the Google Earth address / point of interest field.

Animal Kingdom Lodge:
+28° 21' 8.25", -81° 36' 13.81"

Contemporary:
4600 North World Drive Lake Buena Vista FL

Grand Floridian:
+28° 24' 39.18", -81° 35' 17.41"

Polynesian:
1600 Seven Seas Drive Lake Buena Vista FL

Port Orleans Resort - French Quarter:
2201 Dixie Drive Lake Buena Vista FL
(resort is south of the address)

Port Orleans Resort - Riverside:
1251 Dixie Drive Lake Buena Vista FL

Wilderness Lodge:
+28° 24' 32.18", -81° 34' 23.96"

Epcot:
+28° 22' 31.18", -81° 32' 58.05"

Magic Kingdom:
+28° 25' 7.45", -81° 34' 52.31"

Transportation and Ticket Center (TTC):
+28° 24' 18.72", -81° 34' 47.30"

Orlando Intl Airport (MCO):
+28° 25' 51.93", -81° 18' 29.24"

Wow...........I want to try it. I heard someone talking about this and went to it once, but waited forever and no picture. Maybe I'll check it out again!
