Have you guys checked out Disney on Google earth lately? A virtual version of Walt Disney World was launched featuring 3D buildings of most of the parks and resorts a few days ago. Very Cool!

I've been playing with it on and off a good part of today and can't seem to get it to do much. The buildings don't look very realistic at all. Maybe I'm just doing something wrong.

I don't get it at all- It looks just like before except they integrated some promo videos at the attractions and have links to disneyworld.com. I hope I am missing something- because I thought this was going to be cool. Is there something 3d about it that wasn't there before?

If it looks the same as the overhead images, you're probably doing something wrong.

First, make sure you have the "3D Buildings" checkbox marked in the lower left. Then zoom in pretty close to the ground...hold down your left mouse button...and pull the mouse toward you (downward.) That should move you from the straight overhead perspective into a sort of 3D side view.

Here are a couple of pics I captured earlier this week:

(EDIT: Sorry, I thought the pics would post larger. I can't put them on Photobucket right now, but if you click on the thumbnails here, you'll see larger images: http://dvcnews.com/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=453&Itemid=1 )

The resorts and the theme parks are fully rendered in 3d. It's not much of a step down from some of today's 3d videogames. Clicking on resorts and attractions will even open pop-ups with short videos of each.

I thought it was one of the coolest things I've seen in a while. I could spend an hour just "walking" thru Epcot. :3dglasses
