Goofy's Kitchen Dinner?

I also was going to say I remember eating at the Monorail Cafe in the 80's. When we stayed at the DLH last May, I tried to picture where the shops and restaurants were and some of it is hard to place with all the transformation that has gone on.

Mozarella/tomato salad was good...and I loved the fried plantains...yum!

We thought the food at dinner was fine, and we saw about 9 characters and Goofy came by about 5 times...my DD's loved it. We had an early dinner reservation, around 5pm, and seemed like we had the place to ourselves for a while so the character interaction was wonderful. Goofy played hide and seek, "drank" my DD's chocolate milk, danced with them, drew pictures on the table paper...they loved every minute!

Thank you all for the feedback! I am really curious to try breakfast/brunch after hearing all the rave reviews of how good it is at GK, plus I AM a breakfast person. Thanks also to the pp who mentioned the "light breakfast/couple hours at the park/then brunch at GK" plan! I was having a hard time choosing a time since I don't think we'll be THAT hungry early in the morning; leaving the parks just before noon sounds like a good idea since I've heard it's busier at that time!

Just make sure it's a day when Goofy's is open until 2 p.m., and not until noon.

oh yikes, I think we planned for Friday, June 18 (since we'll arrive Thur. night). Do you think if it's a day they close at noon & we reserv. for 11:30am that it won't be good? The CM said the characters should be there until 11:50-noon and that they would still serve for awhile...

For me, that's cutting it very close. I would book an earlier time for a PS, at least 11:00 a.m. You probably won't get the freshest food if they are putting out the last batches of it, and the characters will be trickling out slowly. I think an extra 30 minutes could make all the difference.

thanks - will call them right now!

I think there dinner is best. I loved all the cuts of meats they had to chose from. I dont like breakfast much eggs make me sick an isk why only some scrambled can i eat.

We do do Minnie's breakfast. If i had to chose a breakfast I chose minnies.
Goofy is best at dinner time, I think they had more interaction an games for the kids too.

Have fun an dont forget 20 bucks for the Photo they will try get you to buy

We were there Monday night. The food was decent. They had turkey breast and prime rib at the carver's station. The turkey was blah and the rib inedible.

The mashed potatoes were great. The most of anything we actually ate was the pizza, mac-n-cheese, and fresh fruit.

The characters we saw were: Goofy, Minnie, Pluto, Mulan, Sleeping Beauty, Gepetto, and White Rabbit. White Rabbit never made it to our table and we had to chase down Gepetto. My girls LOVED seeing Mulan and she inteacted with them so well, it was great!

The best of all was our dinner was free with our travel package. We would have been disappointed if we'd paid the $135 that rang up upon check-in!

This haunts me a little. I had decided to go with the dinner, but now I'm having second thoughts .... again. The food choices described for dinner don't wow me, and we're not big EARLY breakfast eaters, but love breakfast food midday.

What do you think is better for a Sunday (with 7:00 a.m. MM early entry) for character interaction/maximizing park time:

1. Go to the park from 7:00 to noon and make a 12:30 reservation for Goofy's brunch? (Will we feel rushed? It's our first day at the parks; dd's are 5 and 6)

OR

2. Make a 5pm Goofy's dinner reservation for after our mid-day swim/nap break?

I don't like taking park time for character meals unless I have to. We have traditionally started off our stay with dinner at Goofy's Kitchen on arrival night. Likewise, breakfast on your way out of town would be great too!

It's hard to say. I have read some posts from people who said they love the GK dinner buffet better than the breakfast buffet, and then I have read other reports from people who feel as I do and enjoy the breakfast offerings more. Then there are folks who don't like either of those meals at Goofy's. I guess it just kind of depends on personal taste.

Is that Sunday a day when they are open until 2 p.m.? (In case you make the 12:30 p.m. reservation.)

Other than what was mentioned, there are lots of other things to eat at Goofy's for dinner. Even though I haven't done the dinner in years, the size of the buffet has not changed. It's not just turkey and prime rib or roast beef. It seems like someone posted a list of all the food items a while back (like last year), and it looked like they had typical dinner staples and side dishes. I think always have at least one chicken dish (I think I recall 2 chicken dishes when I was last there for dinner). They have all kinds of salads and veggies. There is usually a seafood dish or two. They have a couple of different pasta dishes, I think. They sometimes have things like souffles, quiche or casseroles. They have potatoes. They have rice. They may even have little slices of ham. Lots of desserts (including cobbler). There's tons of stuff (even though I am sure the specific dishes have changed since I was last there). I will try to find that list.

I still tend to favor the breakfast food and the bountiful breakfast buffet, but I think if I were in the mood to eat at Goofy's for dinner again I would certainly be able to find something to eat. Then again, breakfast is a bit cheaper...

Oh, and by the way - I am glad to hear that the White Rabbit was at Goofy's!! Unless things have changed, he is not a regular there so that's news!!

Okay! I could have been back here with the list a lot sooner if this darn computer wasn't moving soooooo slowly!:headache:

Anyway, last year (February 2009) DizNee Luver posted a list she found on Mouse for Less of most of the Goofy's buffet items - though it looks as if some of the breakfast items are mixed in with the dinner items on this list, but you get the general idea of what the dinner stuff is. I don't think they listed the cupcakes here, but there are always lots of cupcakes!
