Goofy's Great Birthday Bash NEW 6/2 page 34

You never cease to amaze me! What a wonderful idea to frame the hand holding pictures. They are so beautiful and touching! Well, the ones I've seen anyways. I think the one of you and Aladdin is gonna make me cry!

And I love your Father's Day, idea. The handwritten notes from your boys will be the clencher! Please post pics of it when you get it all finished.

Jay, what a wonderfull idea for your DH for father's day. I know from many years of experience they appreciate the handmade items so much. Keepsakes are as important for dads as they are for moms.

I loved the elephants but those clowns are major creepy. Maybe in the light of day they wouldn't be so bad. What fun that had to be just the two of you in the pool.

What a lovely way to end your evening Jay but that clown is a bit scary looking :rotfl: The hand holding photo is such a sweet idea and I bet the finished framed photos will look so cute :goodvibes

Oh and those desserts look yummy :thumbsup2

Boy, that clown is rather freaky.:scared1: :) What a fun ending to your day. I am glad the pool was empty while you were there. An empty pool is a good thing. I don't think we've ever had the fun of an empty pool, even at home.

Great update as usual. :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

Day 2: The Start of a WDWonderful Day!

We started our day with a leisurely breakfast in the club lounge. Now might be a good time to do a bit of screaming about how great the club level CMs are at the BWI...THEY ARE THE BEST OF THE BEST! THEY ARE WONDERFUL, KIND, SWEET, FUNNY, HELPFUL...well you get it...they were A-W-E-S-O-M-E!
I couldn't have asked for more welcoming, friendly or helpful staff. I was VERY impressed with each of the CMs I met. I think they all deserve many thanks and a great big dose of Disney pixie dust. They were (to the very last person) great! Their were two staff members who really took Goofy under their wing. At breakfast on this day we met one of them, Lorenzo. He took to calling Goofy by the names "G-Man" or "G-Money" every time he saw him. He was never too busy to come over and visit, to ask about our day, to suggest things that we shouldn't miss. Most days when we walked in to eat breakfast a welcoming "Hey there G-Man" would ring out across the lounge. It was so nice to see Goofy drawn out of his shy shell. Lorenzo is tops in my book! Exceedingly wonderful! I am very grateful for his attention to my birthday boy and the way he took the time to make my little Goof feel like the most special guest ever. The precious laughter that he drew out of Goofy was music to my ears!

As Goofy laughed his way through our breakfast we dined on bagels, fresh cut fruit (pineapple, two kinds of melon and grapes), yogurt, cinnamon rolls (Goofy's favorite) and chocolate milk. The breakfast offerings are the same each day and we chose to repeat our favorites over and over again so I won't take the time to describe the foods at breakfast again. However, for those who are interested in the BWI Innkeeper's Club breakfast offerings they also offered: cereals (four or five different kinds), white milk, orange juice, water, jelly filled pastries, croissants, toast, bananas, whole apples, whole oranges, grapefruit halves and apple juice. Those offerings were in addition to the ones we enjoyed that morning. There was also a coffee machine that made lots of coffee based treats as well as dispensed hot chocolate which was available all day. In addition, they had a selection of teas out at all times.

Following breakfast we made our way out of the resort. I (of course) snapped a few pictures while we did.

Goofy was entranced with the four legged characters which popped up everywhere. He always wanted me to snap their picture.

Our plans for this day took us first to the Yacht Club for some more arcade time, exploration and then lunch. Getting there was very easy. We were planning on walking but we saw the friendship launch approaching the dock as we walked out on to the boardwalk so we hopped aboard instead. Once again, I took pictures along the way.:rotfl:

Day 2: The Start of a WDWonderful Day *Part 2*

We have arrived! Here's Goofy on the Yacht and Beach Club's dock.

And a picture of yet another little lizard.

Exploring the Yacht Club's lobby.
wdw09160.jpg

The Yacht Club was nice with it's dark woods, nautical touches and I almost found myself saying "Aye aye, Captain!" while we walked through.

Ahoy! We found the captain (otherwise known as the Yacht Club greeter)!

Once we felt as if we had sufficiently explored the Yacht Club on the inside, we headed back outside and took a stroll past the pool area. It was tempting to say the least! What an awesome resort pool area!

We ended our stroll at the Yacht and Beach Club's shared arcade. Here we found a video game area much more to our liking! Goofy was happy to find (and once again defeat) his favorite game, Jumping Jackpot.

We spent over an hour happily playing away in an empty arcade. We even did the photo booth. I will scan in some of the pictures we got in there and post them when I get the chance. I forgot just how much fun a photo booth could be! :thumbsup2 By the time we were done, it was just about time for lunch so we headed over to the Captain's Grille.

To be continued...

Storm along bay always looks so refreshing! The Beach Club is the next resort I want to stay at after the Poly!

Day 2: A WDWonderful Lunch

Our meal at the Captain's Grille was a very quiet one. The restaurant was almost empty (I think three other tables were in use). That sort of scared me, during free dining any TS place sitting empty seemed like a huge red flag. I had nothing to worry about. After tasting the food, I cannot understand why it was not packed!
wdw09172.jpg

We each picked an appetizer to start our meal. Goofy started out with the garden salad while I chose the crab cakes. The crab cakes were very good! I won't even try to describe this dish with anything other than the words OH YUM! It was one of the tastiest crab cakes I have ever sunk my teeth into. Large moist lumps of crab, tasty breading and surprisingly good tarter sauce. I could have eaten a second serving as my meal and left happy.
wdw09173.jpg

As it was, I picked the classic lobster roll. It was also very tasty! Lumps of fresh lobster, celery, mayo and tasty seasoning on top of a leaf of bib lettuce nestled on to a delicious buttered and toasted split top bun. I chose the vegetable orzo to go with it and although it was fine, it was no where near as good as the orzo I had at Kouzinna the night before. The orzo was tossed in some sort of tart dressing which I was not a huge fan of. However, the lobster roll more than made up for what the orzo lacked!
wdw09174.jpg

Goofy enjoyed the kid's cheeseburger and fries.
wdw09175.jpg

Our meal concluded on a high note. I had a very tasty slice of key lime pie! It was mouth wateringly good!
wdw09176.jpg

Goofy was happy with his dessert choice as well. He picked the kid's sundae and enjoyed every spoon of it!

:cloud9: Ohhhhhh ohhh ohhh I just love your special trip with the Goofster so far. The resort looks like fun, even the scary clown pool. My DD would LOVE it. Can't wait to read more!!!!

Sounds like nice relaxing morning so far! I'm glad you liked Captain's Grille. Good to know about the lobster roll! I was bummed that I wouldn't be able to get one after F&W was over, but maybe that one will be a good substitute!

Denise

Ooh, that lobster roll looks delish! How patient you must be - to be in WDW for your first day and leisurely stroll and explore - unlike me - I can't wait to get to a park! Didn't you love the decor of the Yacht club? We explored it a little on our trip, I think that's where I want to stay if I can get DH to agree to another trip someday. So relaxing! Great update!

:goodvibes Your pictures are really great! I love the bridge with the boat in it, as well. I know my little boy would love to see that. I can see there is so much more to Disney than I have explored thus far, and your pictures are making me want to go back NOW, NOW, NOW!

Sounds like a good start to your second day.

Goofy looks so happy!!!! :goodvibes

Love the update, Jay. We've never eaten at Captain Grille's and that food looks yummy.

Jay, what an awesome morning you have had. How fun to take your time and enjoy what comes. Now that is one good arcade. I can see why Goof liked it. That crab cake and lobster roll looked so good. I am craving some seafood so bad right now but I'm on a stupid iodine free diet till I go back for my cancer screening. After it is done I'm finding me some good stuff to eat.

Your young man always has such a pleasant smile on his face. But then I look at who his mother is and wouldn't expect it to be any other way.

Ginny

Love the holding hands pic, such a good idea. I have to remember to take one of those with Henry sometime at WDW! :lovestruc

A very relaxing and enjoyable morning, followed up with a great lunch is the formula for a great day!

Oooooo, that key lime pie looks so good! I think I might have gotten a little slobber on the screen...... :lmao:

Wonderful update, Jay! You do a great job of just being there... something I need to learn! My inner commando takes over and I feel the need to "get there" when I'm already there! :confused3
Your photos from the Friendship boat were so clear, what a beautiful day you two had! :thumbsup2

Great first day so far! :thumbsup2 I'm enjoying all your pictures so much. I've never really explored the BC/YC/Boardwalk area, so it's nice to see the details. Looks like Goofy had a blast in the arcade! :woohoo:

The lobster roll and crab cake looks very tasty. You always seem to give great suggestions for new places to eat. THANKS! :thumbsup2
