One question????....are you Goofus or Gallant in the store.... just reminders of behavior that is practiced in the store.... well the senior citizen calamity may be specific to my Yuma store ...the ratio at 10:am is one under 50 person to 25 over 50

Lers see...
I don't bring my own bag
I would return a cold item back to its place (don't think I've ever had to)
I try to stay on one side of the aisle, but probably don't always
I'll let someone in front of me in line to check out if I have a full load and they have just a couple items (thanks to self scan, doesn't happen often)
If someone asks, I'll try to help find an item. Not going up to someone asking g if they need help.

One thing I ALWAYS do though is return a cart to a cart corral or the front of the store.

So, am I Goofus or Gallant?

I just moved THREE "large carts" from the "small cart" side yesterday so I could put my small cart behnd the one small cart that had the 3 large carts behind it. there are large printed signs: SMALL carts left/ LARGE carts right.
It is infuriating to me that people are so dumb or worse, lack a moral compass.

I am a GALLANT

Depends on store. I always have my bags in car in case I make unplanned stop. At big grocer like Kroger I do not because I actually do use those bags again ...
put a frozen/refrigerated item back where it belongs or just leave it with the bread...
I put stuff back where it belongs.
Stand to the side so 🛒 🛒 attached to seniors have the right away...
Not sure what that means but yeah, it is better to yield the right of way than get mowed down.

give cuts to the person behind you...
Depends, how long have I waited, did they choose my line when they could have gone to another, how many items do they have, do they appear to be unbalanced on their feet or in a hurry. Not a for sure yes or no. Today I did not let a man cut but then he started letting other people cut so if I had would that mean I had actually let 2 or 3 people in front of me.

help someone find an item......
Always. I'll reach too if they can't. You ask me for help ~ I am helping, if its legit help.

AND HAVE YOUR phone out with digital coupons....
Kroger you load your coupons in advance. No slow down at register. At register I am on go, paper coupons, putting my member number in, card out ready to pay. I HATE when people are not ready, just like at Disney when they stand at the cashier just now reading the menu.

Yeah I am decades out from Highlights, I don't remember Goofus or Gallant. But guessing ...

I can be either, really depends on situation or person.

My FB cover photo is ... so yeah ... depends.

I bring reusable bags and always return my cart. (And today I helped a very sweet older gentleman find the margarine. - Thank you, Google translate!)

Just want to add a thank you for all the gallantry fellow shoppers display when they help this poor, little, short lady get things off the top shelf. Just last trip to the grocery store, I had to go find a nice, tall person to get something for me. I really and truly do appreciate that.....at 4'11", it's rough sometimes. (and yes, I have climbed up inside the freezer a time or two when nobody was around....)

1. Everybody here brings their own reusable bags, unless you want to pay for more reusable bags. Single use bags are not available practically anywhere here, in any kind of store.
2. I give my returns (if I've changed my mind about something) to the cashier or self-check attendant. They have staff to re-shelf items properly.
3. Always try my best to stay out of everybody's way, no matter what their age.
4. Will absolutely let someone from behind me go first, if they seem to need to and it doesn't affect anybody else's wait time.
5. I'd help anybody if they asked. Can't be much assistance with getting them something off a high shelf though; I have to ask someone for help with that myself.
6. Digital what now? Here almost every grocery store has a loyalty card where weekly offers are automatically loaded and other types of coupons are extremely rare.
7. Bonus points for always putting the cart away - a lot of stores here charge for the carts; you unlock with a dollar coin and get it back when you lock the cart back up.

 Chains with digital what?? I'm Canadian, in a large western city. I'd imagine most of the national chains that lock up the cards do it in all regions. And it's not really a charge for using the cart as much as it is an incentive for people to put them back properly when you're finished. It is super-rare to find random carts left around the parking lots of those stores.

Wow!!!.. you are becoming civilized like Japan ...so in order to receive discounts in 3 chains here Yuma you have to drag out your phone and search and touch each extreme discount..... digital milk is 2.00 or pay 3.60. bread 1.00 or 3.00...well most of the time phone fails in front of the cashier and as for carts...50 % are not returned to corrals... On the 🌞🌞🌞🌞 side Canadians make up 80% of the volunteers at our rummage sale seen from space
