Goodings at the Crossroads faces eviction

thats a real shame:sad2: - I know it was expensive but for the few 'bits' we ever needed it was fine. Its a shame when this happens, but I guess its the climate at the moment - hopefully there will continue to be a supermarket there as we love that Crossroads plaza:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

The one on the 192 which closed a few years ago was only open for a relatively short time, it is a shame because whilst Publix is ok and we rely on it so much, the fact we do rely on it does show the surprising lack of quality supermarkets in Orlando.

Johnny, have you tried Albertsons? Admittedly, there aren't many of them, and certainly none close to the Formosa Gardens area, but I think you appreciate the same kind of things we do, so I'm sure you'd like them. We're fans of Publix, but we sometimes like to change it up a bit. The one we've been to most often is at Dr Phillips up near "Restaurant Row" at Sand Lake Road. The Whole Foods Market nearby is well worth a visit, too, as is Fresh Market near the Mall at Millenia. :thumbsup2

No I haven't, kind of for the reasons you suggest Deb, in that we are usually based either close to Formosa Gardens or Poinciana Boulevard where a Publix is easily reached from either.

I have heard of Albertson's and will consider trying there for a change though obviously it's a longer drive, I hadn't heard of the 'Whole Foods Market' until we were on our way to the Airport for the flight home last year, passed it on one of our litte drives and to be honest had forgotten what it was called until your post.

Went in Winn Dixie once but didn't like the look of the Potatoes and Banana's so I walked straight out! :)

Thank goodness!

We walked there (yes walked!) from Downtown Disney in September, to go to Sweet Tomatoes for dinner. We decided to stop in Goodings to see if there was any candy I'd like to try (I always like to try new American candy whilst we are there) and see if the crisps were any cheaper than the ones at Disney.

The place was filthy, lots of prices missing on items, the items with prices were very expensive (I mean the crisps cost MORE than in the Disney owned store at Contemporary for exactly the same bag!).

I swore never to go back in again. I hope they sell out, and a big brand goes in. I don't care if it is a bit more expensive if it is convenient, and has the stuff Orlando visitors need!

Blimey, it sounds very bad. Must admit the Gooding's they built and subsequently closed on the 192 was really pleasant, though slightly expensive. Haven't been to the Crossroads one myself in years.

*Off topic, I assume you have been to Dylan's Candy Store, close to the food court at the Florida Mall. Well worth it if you haven't.*

Never went there but didn't like the look of it when we drove past it.

We always just go to Wal*Mart, but seem to end up being stuck in there for the best part of an hour for a simple shop!!

We went to Dylan's Candy Store in New York and they gave us so many free samples we didn't even buy anything!! Was pretty expensive tho in NYC :scared1:

Must admit last time I went in there in came to $20 or more, and I only bought some chewing gum. Mind you I am still chewing it! :thumbsup2

Have to get some Orange Jelly Belly beans in August, assuming we go to the Florida Mall, seem to go there less & less these days.

Have they got Willy Wonka working there? :lmao:

:goodvibes

:lmao:

Funny you should say that but they sell the Wonka bars at Selfridge's, I bought one a few weeks ago, £2!! having enjoyed one before in Orlando, strange thing is when I ate it, or part of it, tasted absolutely horrible.
Suppose some stuff tastes different on holiday.

Have you seen how much a box of Lucky Charms is in Selfridges? About £7!!

Agree about things tasting better when on holiday tho, especially American chocolate, which mostly I can't stand, but I can't get myself enough of Reece's Nutrageous bars - sadly they're about 80p tho when I'm lucky enough to find them :scared1:

Our Tesco (express) used to sell them but no more - there is a newsagents near me that does have them tho.

Ironically, Reece's Pieces are much easier to find by us, Home Bargains sell them for 15p a packet!!

I have never actually been to Florida Mall. This trip will be my first without my parents, who hate shopping in all its forms! I hope to go on this trip and that candy store sounds like my first stop! :rotfl:
