I am guessing this will be like all the other places that sell Starbucks coffee. I know at my daughter's university the library sells Starbucks but she cant use a gift card there so I'm guessing it will be the same here.
I was able to use my S'bux giftcard at the DCA location. And get an AP discount.
It's more than "proudly served here", but less than the big green awning.
Did it open in DL bakery, keeping bakery theme unchanged, just offering some new items including coffee in addition to bakery items with some sponsorship logos? Or they changed theme completely, creating themed SB with some offerings from bakery? First scenario would be sponsorship, second is a take over. Sorry you do not want to see it. And yes I am glad to see new items as well but I am not blinded by that to see it as it is.
They were *already* retheming that whole area of DCA. The train car that the coffee/bakery area and the ice cream area were in was on its way out *anyway*. The revamping of that area was to make it MORE in line with the theming of Buena Vista Street, not less. And still it doesn't scream Starbucks.
Editing: noticed you asked about the
Disneyland bakery. I was responding about the Starbucks location, which is in DCA.
For the DL bakery, we lost that entirely. From disneyfoodblog.com:
Blue Ribbon Bakery is shutting its doors for good today, and although it will be missed, exciting new things are on the horizon for its location. The bakery will be used to provide an expansion for The Carnation Cafe. The bakery will become indoor seating for the restaurant, which will be undergoing a complete remodel, also starting this week.
Worried about where you will get your baked goods fix? Dont. The Jolly Holiday Bakery grand opening is on Saturday
The Blue Ribbon had incredibly ridiculous lines. It's much better handled at Jolly Holiday and at the DCA "Starbucks" location (I can't ever remember the whole new name at any given time, LOL). They did nothing but improve matters. And on that disneyfoodblog article I'm quoting from, they picture a bunch of stuff that was at the last holiday season...given all the traditional Halloweentime treats that were still being served at both the Jolly Holiday store and the DCA location (alongside Starbucks treats in DCA), I would bet all of the Holidaytime treats going to be sold at both of those places as well.
I am *highly* resistant to change at Disney. But most of the changes they've made at Disneyland Resort recently have been VERY good. That's why I'm having a hard time doubting the changes being made at WDW. (the changes I haven't liked, like getting rid of the koi pond at Disneyland Hotel, I'm sure were made for practical reasons, like the concept of having sensitive animals out there for anyone to mess with and probably having to replace koi ALL the time)
I can't use my SB rewards there, but I can use a Disney AP discount.
There have been people who have earned their rewards there, FWIW.
