Goodbye Epcot Wand...?

Location, location, location. Why on earth did they choose to put the hat right there? I don't mind the hat, its just the bad location that bothers me so much.. Maybe they could stick it on 192 and sell all the speciality food items they removed from the menus at the restaurants when they started DDP. There I did it I successfully combined two hot topics..:rotfl2: ..smjj

I have heard that they are going to put a big 25 up there for Epcot's 25th:sad2: :sad2: :sad2:

I hope it is true and they DON'T put anything else up there:thumbsup2

and dont get me started on why the Pigeon and the Guppy dont belong looming over World Showcase.

:rotfl2:

I, too think that they really ruin the skyline above world showcase.

I think that SE will look much better without the wand. SE is a marvel of arcitecture, and dosen't need a cheap looking wand to prove that point.

I had never been to MGM before Dec 2006, but after looking at the pictures before and after BAH I much prefer before. I thought BAH looked really cheap and out of place compared to the icons of the other three parks.

Yeah, my first MGM visit was in September 2006 (also my first Disney visit) and I can look at the pictures and see how it obviously looks so much better without the hat. :sad2:

We're planning to visit WDW in October 2008. I can't believe our last visit was 15 years ago! That's way too long for someone who loves Disney.

The wand and hat were not there when we last visited. When I first saw the photos of them, I hated them and thought they looked tacky. I don't think I've ever seen the tombstones everyone is talking about, anyone have a photo of them?

Shadeaux's photos of the wand are the first I've seen it up close. nbodyhome's comments mirror my own; as I was looking at the close-up photos, I thought, "it looks like a carnival ride".

I'm wondering if the love it/hate it aspect of the wand and hat are age related. (Those who are older and remember WDW before the wand and hat disliking them and those who are too young to remember a time before them liking them.) Anyone think this might be the case?

Put me in the hate 'em both category, over 40.

I hate the wand, yet I've never actually seen Spaceship Earth WITHOUT the wand in person :rotfl:

MGM without the big blue pin shop

Disney built the Hat to hide this since it is an MGM symbol that causes financial disputes between Disney and MGM. MGM wanted Disney to pay them $$$$ each time they produced-used the theatre image. Disney's solution was to change the view.

Well, I hate the wand.

That hat, well, I go from hating it to liking it to just wanting to get to ToT and RnRC and not paying attention :lmao:

So, I'm hate wand/indifferent on hat in the 18-21 age group

The hat is here to stay for financial reasons unless Disney or MGM change their position.

Well...its really ugly looking where it is.

It looks horribly out of place, is very crowded and its quite obvious how it was put up to try and block the theater.

It's like if they put a giant Mickey Mouse statue in the Hub to cover the castle so you could only see the castle from up close.

I like the wand. It would look to plain if it wasnt there. I have seen it in its original state, the 2000 state and of course what it is today. If they take it down, I hope they add something new. As for the hat at MGM, I agree that it should go. It does look better to see the chinese theater there and not the hat. They could always move the hat over to Fantasmic and have it going over the entrance so that you are walking through the hat to get to the stadium.

I'm sure this will draw a lot of attention, but I *REALLY* like the sorcerer's hat at MGM. Partly because I'm a huge Sorcerer Mickey fan, and partly because I felt like it needs a large icon like the other parks.

That makes alot of sense then. Still doesn't change the fact it kinda ruins the atmosphere of the park in my opinon. I still don't like that giant hat but if that's true it's probably staying for good then. *heavy sigh* Oh well one can dream i guess, I'm atleast happy I got to visit the park before they built the hat and I got to experience the view of walking into the park and seeing the Chinese theater. The great movie ride is awesome by the way.

Hate the wand and the hat and I wish they would both go!

By the way, does anyone have pictures of what the "tombstones" look like? I've never seen them, or the wand and hat in person for that matter.

Then how do you know you hate them?

I heard that the hat is going and that a huge broom holding a bucket will go in it s place! :lmao:
This whole thread belongs in the rumors forum as there is no official statement of any kind that supports the wand or hat going anywhere yet.
:thumbsup2

Notice how they painted the supports of SE to try to make them look like they belong!!! :headache:
