...and from January 2008:

Hello Disney's Hollywood Studios.

Again from the Orlando Sentinel.

I kinda like 'Hollywood Studios', seems more appropriate really.

I suppose this means having to buy even MORE stuff now that it has a new name! Gotta keep up to date ;)

:scared1:

Is this just a name change, or is there more to the story?

Regards :goodvibes

There are a few rumours, one is that MGM wanted to open up their own theme park so wanted their name back, the other is that disney had only bought the rights until 2009, thirdly i heard that the name might change to Disney Pixar Studios, so who knows?;)

I think they did have their own theme park, didn't they? In Las Vegas at the MGM Grand. It wasn't very successful and closed after a few years. Are MGM planning on a theme park in Orlando then?

I believe there have been quite a few legal wrangles between Disney & MGM over tyhe years regarding exactly when and on what Disney could use the MGM name.

I am assuming for the moment Disney Pixar is on hold due to this announcement, but had ai been a betting woman I would have put my money on this option ;)

I will probably always call it MGM . I still call Snickers - marathons and starbursts - opal fruits :lmao:

on a lot of leeflets for the parkfor a few years, has been disney studios.but never taken down signage.Think they might rename the animation area pixar eventualy, car`nt rember if they still do the walk round animators
Paulh

We never started calling it Disney Studios so I guess we will still call it MGM! I do like the name though. DH will be confused now and think there's a new park ha ha! :)

I'm going to be different any say I don't like the new name, it isn't in Hollywood so it seems wrong to me. Disney Pixar Studios would be ok.

I think the "Hollywood" title is to keep in line with the Art Nouveau style of the buildings and film theme. Disney Pixar would make it sound too "modern" and would probably conflict with the 1930s styling. I can see Disney having a Pixar themed area there at some point in the future though.

I would have preferred Disney Pixar Studios personally, I wonder if it will affect the Great Movie Ride.

Ooohhh.....this is the first I have heard of this........I really like the sound of Disney Hollywwod Studios :thumbsup2
