Hi! I haven't been to Europe in 8 years and feel a bit clueless!

We are doing the Czech, Austria, Germany ABD in July. Can anyone recommend a good US to Europe plug adaptor? We will need to charge our phones and iPads and I'm just not really sure what I should be buying!

Thanks so much!

There are both voltage converters (230 volts E.U. to 120 volts U.S.) as well as plug adapters that allow an "U.S." plug to access E.U. wall outlets at the 230 volt currant. Check your electric needs for some have both voltage acceptability such as certain computers. Most higher end hotels we have stayed in Europe has one 120 volt wall outlet. The outlets are labeled as such. Rick Steves has a full line on his web site.

What you are looking for is a European plug

This is a 2 pin Round plug ( into wall socket )

At the other side you put the 2 pin Flat plug of your I pad etc.into it

Now some places & Cars ( I had one last week) have Replaced

Cigarette Lighter Plugs with USB ports

A Universal World Adaptor is the best type of plug as it also does UK

& Ireland & Australia etc

All these I think can be bought in WalMart

I am just about to put my USA adapter into my case as I have

an Irish plug attached to my Lap top & I am flying to Orlando

Ummm, wouldn't that be the inverse of what the OP is looking for? I believe they need something that will plug into the european outlets.
Yes, Jeff. :) What Bobo912 bought will help, in that you only need to buy one adapter for the wall plug, and then can plug all your phones, iPads, etc into the strip at the same time. Rather than buying multiple adapters or switching out. I bought the power strip Bobo912 linked to, and it's worked wonderfully on multiple trips overseas.

Marthasor, I *do* recommend you get the Universal Power strip. And then you can buy one or two adapters like this:

I bought this specific one, and it worked great in France and Greece. It should also work in the countries you're going to.

Most current electronics like cell phones & tablets will work fine with just an adaptor. Heavier electrical use items like hair dryers or even some flat irons may require an actual converter.

Thanks so much. I checked all of our cords (iPad, laptop and phone) and we should be fine with an adapter. I found some adapters that will enable you to plug a grounded and and an ungrounded plug in at the same time. Only having one wall outlet could be a problem! We'll figure it out! Thanks so much!

I'll look into the power strip too! Thanks!
