What are you goign to do in the garden today?????

I need to pick up all those raked leaves from the other day...they are going to be a little wet, that's ok, I'm on a roll. This is the side of the yard where my elderly neighbor doesnt do anything...cut grass, rake....it really looks like the woods. I have taken to cutting her grass a few times but believe me when I tell you I mow mostly dirt..not much grass there . I'm thinking of putting up a small wire fence just to keep my yard clear of her leaves...bad I know. Anal?, yeah, maybe.

It's a little dreary out there today. Doesn't look like I'll get into the yard until the weekend.

I've been doing some furniture refinishing lately and really need to finish it before getting into some serious gardening.

This mud duck does need to get some soil into her webs, though.

It's shopping day, maybe a stop off at the craft store, and a quick visit to Home Depot. Return home to some Grand-Daughter sitting.

Check my irises and cut some roses for the house....:D

Hi all,

I try and save my "dirty" work for the weekend, so today I am just feeding my beds. I had a bannana for breakfast so I thought I would through that in with the roses. However, this weekend I am planting another 'Double Delight' rose (my favorite) and starting on building my very first sunroom! Yeah! Thank you...goverment refund (it was the sunroom or another DCL cruise).... thought I would be good and use the money for something that I can use everyday.

PS
I am still waiting on my first blooms from the "Disneyland Rose" that I purchased from J@P. It's getting close and forming buds, but alas none yet.

Have a great gardening weekend everyone!

Oh, a sunroom would be a wonderful addition, Mmketeer! :)

It was a beautiful day here today. I had my little niece Susannah (the little one in the garden cart pic), with me all day, and I put her to work in the garden!! :) I bought her some very cute little kid's gardening gloves, gave her the little shovel and rake I keep for wee visitors, and had her dig up one of the empty beds. I stressed to her how important it was to find lots of worms in the soil, so she was on a mission, very focused...lol...to find as many as she could. :)

My bleeding heart is up about 6", some of my hostas are peaking out, the lilac is filling out, the ferns are poking their heads out ....things are happening!!! :)

Ugh! It was such a gray and rainy day today. I just couldn't snap out of the blahs. I did get a chance to check my raised veggie bed and everything has sprouted. Now all I need is some sunshine. :sunny:

Hi Snowwark,

Where's the picture of your niece? It wasn't at the bottom of your post...anyway, I think it's a great idea to have her help you out w/ the gardening. Less work for you and a great educational experince for her too!<BG> I mean really, how many little girls ARE afraid of worms......I know I was as a kid.LOL!

OH,OH....I wish I could have Lilac here....what a beautiful scent. But alas...it's too hot for the poor little things down here. And, it's hard enough trying to keep the heat tolarant plants alive here during the summer months. Especially when we are under watering restrictions. Oh well, mybe you can just send me a picture of yours.

Have a great gardening day!

Mmketeer, my little garden helper is the one sitting on my knee in the pic on the Garden Cart thread.....Right Here! :) She wasn't afraid of the worms at all, in fact she found them to be very "cute"...LOL..:)

Some of our other Florida Buds have mentioned missing Lilacs, and their wonderful scent. I would love to be able to smell Orange Blossoms, I've heard they're heavenly. :)

Amid, are you still on a roll? ;) That's very sweet of you to cut your neighbours lawn for her!

Did you have a chance to get out in the yard today, Mamu? :)

Hope it's sunnier today, Mary! Sounds like your veggie bed is coming along nicely. :)

I finished picking up the leaves on ONE side of the house..I also got an area ready for my new compost piles behind the shed.

:sunny: :sunny: It's been sunny all day! :sunny: :sunny:

I still didn't get any work done. I got out the mower earlier big piece of the underside is hanging loose. Not a good thing. Oh well, I think DH really should do the mowing tonight anyway. ;) Maybe I'll putter around later this evening...or maybe tomorrow.

Sigh. Still feeling droopy!

SnowWark,

She's very pretty and she looks a lot like you and definitly has your wonderful smile. <BG> Wow, that dress sure is in amazing shape for it's age! Maybe you should start a butterfly garden for her...I'll bet she'll really like those wormy looking catapillars. I use to have a awesome butterfly graden with lots of Monarch larvae, but alas since I have moved no catapillars yet. :(

Yes, the orange blossom's do smell heavenly...earlier this month they were in full bloom on the property near us. Next time, I'll send you a few blossoms. :)

PS
It stormed and rained until 4am this morning last night and at 11:30am this morning it's still wet and overcast outside so I guess I'll have to put off working in the yard til tomorrow. I'll be able to get the rose planted, but not much work'all get done on the sunroom. Bummer....
