My friend is going to be using some taxi service while at WDW. I have never taken a taxi there and know little about it, so need some advice from people with taxi experience.

I had read on here awhile ago, there are ok taxi companies and rip off ones. Which service is the ok one which will not overcharge and really rip her off?? I just cannot remember the name of the company and cannot find it..thanks for your help... :sunny:

Checker Cabs is the contracted cab company of Disney. It is operated by Mears. BEWARE of imposters "Chek-her, and stuff like that. They and others will hang out at the parks until chased by security. Then they come back to be chased again. They do get a rider from time to time.

If you call for a cab, get a estimate in advance. You can get an estimate for many popular locations at www.mearstransportation.com or call 407-699-9999.

At the airport, beware of out of town cab companies soliciting for local service. They aren't supposed to be providing local service. Yellow, Ace Metro/Luxury Cab, Diamond Cab Company, Star Taxi, Town & Country Transport, are the only cab companies allowed to provide service to the greater Orlando area and resorts, including Disney, and they all charge the same or close.

Ask to see their permit if in doubt.

As a follow-up, I would suggest Town Car services as well, if you want exclusive transportation. Flat rate A to B, no worries about route, traffic jams, waiting time etc.

Any company should be able to quote you a one way or RT rate.
