Good stops to stretch legs on I75?

We will soon be driving down the I75 from Southwestern Ontario :cool1: We've driven down before, but I'm wondering if there are any good stops that I may have missed last time. What I'm NOT looking for is anywhere that will take more than 1/2 hour to visit. So nothing too involved or expensive. Just neat little parks or roadside things that will allow us a fun opportunity to stretch our legs. My daughter is 10 and my son is 6.

Thanks!

When I read the title of your thread I thought you just wanted a 'stretch your legs/potty break' kind of place. For us that would be any of the information centers that are found as you enter each state. Clean, safe places with nice grounds and picnic areas.

But it looks like you want something more than that. Have you considered getting a copy of the I 75 book?

I'm looking for something a bit more fun and unique than the rest stops... Something that the kids especially would find kind of neat. We do have the I75 book and while I love it, I find that it is very much written from an older adult's point of view. I already know of some cute little stops/parks just a few minutes off of the I75 that (understandably) not mentioned in the book. I'm sure that there are plenty that I'm missing, though, and thought that others might be able to chime in with their "hidden gems" that they discovered along the same journey :)

I haven't driven down I-75 in the past few years, but I was a passenger on that trip several times a year in my childhood...

I don't recall there being many great gems, but I always liked stopping at the flea market in Sweetwater, TN.

Other than that, if your kids like the idea of treasure hunting, I would highly recommend getting a cheap GPS unit and getting them into geocaching. You should be able to find a bunch of quick and easy caches along your route in Geocaching.com and most kids love the trinket exchange.
