Good spot to watch fireworks NOT in the park

My nephew and I will be heading to DLR over the 4th of July weekend. I've been to DLR a lot but never during a really busy season. Is there a good place to watch the fireworks outside of the park on the 4th? We'll be planning on doing DCA that day and are staying at the Disneyland Hotel.

I've never done it but I've heard that some people go to the top of the parking garage to watch which would be easy to get to by taking the tram.

I've done that and it's not bad. The parking lot of the Sheraton on Ball Road is also a good vantage point.

If you have park hoppers you could go to DL but it will be crowded!!! You can see them from DCA by standing near the front gates, there is no music but you can still see them there. Or you can stand or sit in the esplanade between parks for a good view as well.

My DH's & I's favorite spot to watch the fireworks when not in the park is from the pool deck at the Paradise Pier Hotel. They pipe in the music, which is a nice touch and you have a great view of the fireworks. You do not have to be a hotel guest to enjoy the fireworks from their pool deck!

We did the 4th of July fireworks 2 years ago and it did get quite crowded up on the pool deck (more so than any normal fireworks performance we have watched), but it was so nice not having to deal with DL crowds after the fireworks and just leisurely walking back to our car in the structure.

My tip, if you do the pool deck, to hear the music the best, the building that houses the bathrooms/old snack shop has the speakers on it, so you will want to try to be closer to that than the "tented" area closer to the hotel itself.

I was told by one CM that there is an upper floor balcony at GCH open to the public with piped music and a perfect view.

On the northbound 5 freeway is a cool view.

Esplanade is great viewing.

Ditto on the Paradise Pier Pool deck! We stayed there a few years ago and accidentally discovered this hidden gem and have many time thought of going back just for 4th of July shows.

No, they don't play it there but sometimes you can hear it there. If you're at the HoJo in a Disney view room you can see them from there and hear them as well. It's very quiet but you can hear them.
