good snacks to take into the park

Shoot, MK2010, you can take a whole lunch in if need be. This will not be a problem..Take whatever you need to keep everyone, especially your daughter, ready and able to do the parks:)

Pringles, the can keeps them from crushing.

THEN

Use the empty pringles can to hold round cookies.

We always take a lot trail mix from Trader Joe's. We avoid the kind with candy in it, bc for us extra sugar + heat = sleepy! Almonds are good too- about 7-11 can fill you up and stabilize blood sugar, which helps prevent meltdowns!

Trail mix, love the sweet and salty.

Can of Pringles.

A bag of Combos also holds up well in the backpack.

We bring most of our own food when we're in the parks, here's what's in our backpacks every day:

I have a small softside cooler that just holds two bottles of water. I freeze the bottles the night before and then add string cheese to this same pack, we bring crystal light to cover the Florida water taste.

I make my own mix of raw almonds, salted roasted cashews, and m&m's if it's not going to be too hot. For hot days, I leave out the m&m's.

I also bring Dried Fruit, cookies (love the pringles can idea!), licorice, goldfish (cheddar or pretzel), rice crispy treats. My sandwich is pb and jam so it doesn't need to stay cold.

We do a ton of travel that requires some sort of easily portable and non-perishable foods - my two go-to's are nuts (usually raw almonds so I keep the salt down) and dried fruit. You can almost live on these two things - good source of protein to curb your hunger and natural sugar for a short term boost. Costco carries the best dried fruit mix, it's their Kirkland brand Dried Mangoes and Berries.

We've never had good luck with bananas or muffins, no matter how carefully I pack them.

We love to bring beef jerky! :goodvibes It comes in a variety of flavours! Have fun with whatever you decide to pack and don't feel as though your only option is out of your brown bag! :scared1: After all, half the fun of being on vacation is getting to try new things! :cool1:

I love the Pringles can idea! My kids dont snack a lot but they get thirsty a LOT. The best thing we did on our last trip(May 2010) was to get each of the kids their own Camelbaks(kid sized). My husband carried one that he and I shared(I carried the backpack with everything else) We filled them in the morning with ice water and refilled later in the afternoon. We NEVER had to stop ONCE to get a drink(besides lunch). It was WONDERFUL! :thumbsup2

Camelbaks are great. Hands free, and the weight stays close to your body. We love ours!

Thanks! I was a little concerned. I didn't think it would be a problem, but this is a new disease for us and its funny what I'll wake up in the middle of the night sweating over!:thumbsup2

I plan on bringing in some Fiber One bars and some dry cereal, such as Kashi warm cinnamon.

we have a soft cooler with a hard liner for the inside if we want to use it. we got it at walmart and it the bag checkers could care less.
here is our list of stuff we bring obviously not all at once
1. little boxes of cereal (my daugher loves them and the cardboard holds up to the abuse plus we get variety.
2. fruitloops in little gladlock containers
3. grapes we buy a whole array of gladlock containers for about 10 dollars and just throw them out if we dont feel like carrying them anymore. i think you can get over 35 for that price maybe 40
4. nuts, granola, raisons.
5. crystal light mix
6. little packs of crackers
7. the target fruit snacks (like gummy bears) they do well in the heat and they make my little one happy
8. a water bottled filled with vodka for when the plans go really bad. jk on that one lol

LOVE the Vera Bradley rectangular soft sided cooler for the amusement parks! Easily holds two bottles of water and 2 or 3 juices plus a few other things. Easily fits 6 cans of soda. It is plastic coated and wipes clean. Does not leak. Light weight. Folds easily to pack into suitcase or backpack. Fits perfectly under the Maclaren single stroller. Easy to carry- has long strap. We usually bring two of them when we go on family outings. I bring one to work with me for lunch/snacks/drinks almost daily. Keeps items pretty cold. LOVE this cooler! Retails for $28 but I have managed to get a few on sale for $16.

:goodvibes:thumbsup2

Granola bars are handy but not nutritious. I find during long days at the parks it helps to have some food packed with protein.

I suggest protein bars. Most grocery stores carry many, many brands, types and flavors of protein bars.

My kids like the Cliff bars ~ more like a soft cookie than a protein bar.

I also like to carry individually packaged organic carrots (they have them at Publix here in Florida) and those baggie type fruit things (don't remember the brand, sorry!) They are in the produce section and have a serving of fruit in them. Like pureed fruit ... they are good!

I also make sure to ALWAYS have water and sometimes we bring juice boxes but those can get heavy.

Good luck with your trip planning!

among the many other things listed above - we also bring peanut butter cracker packs. Something about the salt/protein seem to help with nausea our family experiences with the heat.

But, like the others:

protein bars
pretzels
waters
individual snack bags
