We will be at OKW on 1/3. We are staying in a 2 Bdrm for 8 nights. Can anyone tell me what some good building locations are? We would like to be close to the main pool and building. Also, what is the best way to make room requests? Thanks!

It is best to make simple requests when you make your ressie. Requesting near the main pool is a legitimate request. It is not my favorite area, but I do understand it is for lots of folks. We actually prefer the smaller pools. There are no bad buildings at OKW, JMHO.

Hi! Just remember that whatever you're told you may have a different opinion of the same room and location. We stayed in studio 6433 and we thought we died and went to heaven, we both felt it was the best room and location we could ever have! Someone PMed me saying that someone else had come on the boards with a very negative description of the same room. Oh well!

That's so true! We didn't care for building 64 because of no parking lot there. Liked the view of the green though!

That is so true, some love one building or location while others hate the exact same thing. One of our favorite buildings is #49, but everyone else hates it. I have even read in a guide book to avoid that building.

Your best bet is to ask for what you described in this thread (near the main pool). Remember, that request is the most popular request and they can't honor it for everyone. I agree there is no BAD building in OKW.

On our last trip we stayed in bld 45. I was told this is the "area where they put a lot of people who don't ask for a particular building", so I didn't figure it would be the best. I had simply asked for a two bedroom with a water view. It was great!

We were on the second floor and the the large balcony overlooked the canal and bunches of ducks. Our 3 yr. old niece loved waving at the small watercraft going by on the canal, and she got a big kick out of feeding the ducks. It was a wonderful, quiet room that we all enjoyed greatly. And parking can't be much closer! Right at the foot of the stairs. The bus stop was right around the corner. As far as I can tell, there aren't many, if any, "bad" rooms at OKW.

We liked buildings 45 and 46 too. Great quiet area, but if it is a cool January, the walk to the pool/hot tub at South Point can be a chilly one! Our favorite buildings have been 55, 46, 22, & 20. Love the views and sunrise/sunset from those Miller's Road buildings. In my oppinion, 55 has the best view of all! We were in building 13 last week, and while I wasn't happy about being so close to HH, we had a great view.

If it helps at all, based on room reports I have, people in 2 BRs in Buildings 13,23, and 26 have been especially happy with their room (location, etc.) But that's not to say other buildings are any less desirable-just what I have info on.

Donald, we also thought #49 was nice. We had a quiet studio and it was a short walk to the Turtle Pond Pool OR the Southpoint Pool, plus very close to a bus stop. I had also read #49 was a stinker, and I thought "If this is the worst OKW has to offer, great!"

For OP, "close to Hospitality House" is a popular request so you might formuate a "backup plan." Turtle Pond is a nice area with a fun pool and snack bar. We love it there. For peace and quiet, you can't beat Southpoint (#54-56). I also agree that every area of OKW has its charms!

You might ask for a building numbered 30 or higher if you have anyone staying on the LR sofabed. The entrance to the master bathroom is via the bedroom UNLESS you are in bldg #30 or higher. Those units also have an entrance through the laundry room. Also only bldgs 61+ have elevators, so you might request those or a ground floor if stairs are a problem, wheel chair, stroller etc..

I agree, that any location is great for most. you always have those that would complain about paying taxes on a $50million lottery win, if you know what I mean. I have yet to have a bad location in 12+ years and 30+ trips to OKW.

Have a great trip.

I would ask for a 2nd or 3rd floor. We were under a GV last time and it was very noisy.

I don't like the "U" shaped buildings (e.g 35). On the units on the inside -the base of the U- there is no window in the second bedroom.

We stayed in 45, 15 and 16 and liked those.

We were at OKW on Nov. 14. I had hoped for buiding 63 or 64 so I asked for close to HH and an elevator since we had a wheel chair. When we arrived they gave us building 15. I was a little disappointed, but agreed. We had a two bedroom on the first floor.

The room was great. Very quite, parking in front (never filled), nice view of the 7th hole, close to HH and bus stop. We were very happy.

Good note above about the bathroom. My DMIL must have stombled through the master bedroom three or four times a night but I didn't hear her. We stoped to get night lights at Wal-Marts so we could light up the hallway, livingroom, and bath. This worked well. Have a great trip!

We just stayed in bldg 62 (Nov 2-6) and loved it. Had a nice water view and we were close to HH and pool. Also, we could see the Illuminations fireworks from our patio here---even faintly hear the music.

We also loved bldg 43 and 45 but they're not close to the main pool---wonderful water views though.
