Good resting spots in each theme park?

My vacation begins in just 5 weeks. I was recently diagnosed with a bone spur, and tendonitis in my left foot. I'm not sure exactly how sore my foot is going to be when I actually begin my WDW vacation. I am seeing a podiatrist tomorrow for the first time. Not sure at all what he is going to recommend. Looks like I will most likely be touring with a wheelchair. However, I'm thinking a midday break back at the hotel will put more strain on my foot than just staying put in the parks, and finding some great places to rest. Please don't tell me to rent a scooter, because it's not what I want to do, and definitely not in my budget.

So tell me your favorite resting spots in the 4 parks. We will be visiting all four theme parks for 7 days total.

Thanks in advance.

Carousel of progress. And as a family bonus, the music plus the light spinning always put my kids to sleep and we could plan to ride out a nap.

When I think Carousel of Progress, I always think People Mover. However, unless there's an elevator up to the People Mover, I will have to skip it on my next trip. That escalator type thing was hard for me to navigate on my last trip, and I had two good feet on my last trip.

Thanks for the Carousel of Progress suggestion.

the carousel of progress is a show in the same area as the people mover it is very relaxing and fun ( to sleep in)

any shows at any of the parks is great

if you think Ice will help first aid and you could even lie down for a bit in the cool AC

You can ride the railroad around as much as you like without getting off.

And I am going to suggest you look into renting a scooter from an off site company. It will be a bit cheaper, and will definitely be easier on you and on whoever is going to push you around the parks. You don't realize how hilly the parks are, or how uneven the ground is, until you try pushing someone in a wheelchair. Been there, done that, don't recommend it.

Universe of energy would be good for a 45 minute rest at Epcot.

Maybe take a book and relax in a restaurant with a beverage?

You may be surprised at how economical renting a scooter from an outside company may be. They deliver and pick up from your Resort hotel, and you'll have it for the length of your visit.

MK - Carousel of Progress, Rays Cosmic, Laugh Floor
Epcot - There are so many...Ellens' Energy, the meet and greet building, Innoventions, most countries in the World Showcase have places you could rest
HS - Great Movie Ride, exit area of ToT is nice and cool, Frozen Sing
AK - Festival of the Lion King, Nemo

I only listed inside, air conditioned places. There are tons of outdoor places at each park too.

Some off the wall ideas... Dumbo has an indoor playground, but has some bench seating in the A/C as well. You could always ride the train the whole way around the park. Like the above post, the shows at AK and HS. You could always sit through a film in one of the countries in EPCOT.

Pushing a wheelchair in wdw is really tough on whoever is doing it. My family pushed me when i sprained my knee at 12, and everyone complained bitterly. Those wdw chairs aren't light.

On the other side of the park the philharmagic, country bears, tiki room all give you some a/c time off your feet.

I've given you my thoughts on your DisAbilities thread about attempting to self propel in the parks.

If you won't return to your resort for a mid day break, in August, I would suggest finding places like the ones suggested by the PPs that are indoors and airconditioned.

MK: COP, HOP, Mickeys Philharmonic, Monsters Laugh Floor

DHS: GMR, Frozen Sing a long, Little Mermaid show.

AK: FOTLK, Nemo, FOW ( Not inside, but it's shaded)

Epcot: has the most options. Ellen's Energy Adventure. American Adventure, the movies in France, China and Canada, LWTL

Just some thoughts on the scooter....

OP, I just had knee surgery at the end of June. I'm up and moving, but not like I want. I know how much walking there is and how much my family will grumble if they are having to push me around in a wheelchair. I'm prepared to have the money set aside for a scooter if need be.

It's not what I want, believe me. I worry about having to drive that thing onto a bus and people waiting on me. I worry over other people thinking I was lazy because to look at me you can't tell anything would be wrong. Then I stop and think about the many times I've been and how many scooters have been around. You know not once did I question someone's need for it, I just assumed if they had one they needed it. I also can't remember a time I minded waiting for a scooter to board a bus. Also you know if I'm going to spend all that money for the vacation, a little more for the scooter so both me and my family can enjoy it would be worth it.

Thanks for all the great ideas everyone.

Can people suggest alternative places to watch the fireworks at Magic Kingdom, besides in the area directly in front of the castle. I know that I read that information someplace before. It's fine, if I can't see the before show with the projections. I have been visiting the MK since 1997, and so I have seen Wishes many times from the standard view, and I'd like to try something different.

The view from behind the castle is pretty cool. We try to view the fireworks from back there at least once a trip. Or if we are in a hurry to leave we go down near the flag pole on Main Street.

MK-Railroad, The seating areas near Casey's on Main Street, Carousel of Progress, The seating areas near the Rapunzel restrooms in Fantasyland, inside Hall of Presidents, also there is a nice area to the right of the entrance to HOP where there are a couple of rocking chairs to enjoy people watching or resting-my son sat there last year when he was starting to get ill
Epcot-Food Court in The Land(I love the smell in there!), the benches around the Imagination hopping water fountains, America Pavilion Liberty Inn seating areas, also nice cool area if you watch the France film, and in Japan where they have the art exhibits behind Mitsukoshi Dept. Store, near the fountains inside Mexico pavilion
MGM-tables near starring rolls bakery, benches near One Man's Dream
AK-my favorite place is inside Restaurantosaurus, as long as its not a busy time, otherwise I'd find a bench in one of the shaded areas where the animals are

My wife has a bone spur in her foot and i've had tendonitis in my foot before. Our podiatrist really helped. I ended up getting a cortosone shot. My wife got a shot and orthodics that really helped.

Based upon our experience, follow your podiatrist's direction and you should be ok for Disney.

I have plantar fasciitis and can relate to your pain and dilemma. A friend recommended these shoes to me... http://www.kurufootwear.com I'm a teacher and on my feet all day so I've learned the value of good shoes or really good inserts for my existing shoes. For me if I sit and rest for any length of time it makes it more painful overall. I will stop a minute and stretch it out while taking pain relievers. But I'm also accustomed to standing all day.

I think before planning stops or even worrying about that far into it, talk to the podiatrist first. If he gives you stretches to do those will help more than any amount of sitting around. The right shoes will also make a world of difference.

If it isn't too hot, I'd always recommend a bench pretty much anywhere in World Showcase. Nice atmosphere and excellent for people watching.
