Hi there,

We picked up some fresh pork chops from our local farm today & want to make some pork chops with homemade applesauce for dinner.

We already have our recipe for the applesauce, but can you share some recipes for the pork chops? Spices, sauces, etc....should we bake them or grill them?

Thanks!:goodvibes

As a Southern woman, I say FRY them!

Sprinkle them with salt and pepper, dredge them in flour, and fry them til golden brown in a skillet with some oil. :)

I coat them in Italian dressing, roll them in breadcrumbs, and bake 'em. Ranch dressing works too, if you prefer.

I use this as a marinade from grilled pork chops:

3/4 cup vegetable oil
2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce
1 tablespoon lemon juice
1 tablespoon mustard
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon pepper
1 teaspoon dried parsley flakes
1 garlic clove, minced
Half bottle of Zesty Italian dressing

This recipe is for about 6 pork chops. They have sort of a steak like taste to them, which is always delicious!

I made these last night and they were really good!

Chinese oven baked pork chops

Ingredients:
1 egg
2T. soy sauce
1T. sherry
1/8t. ground ginger
1/2t. garlic powder
4-6 pork chops
seasoned bread crumbs
Directions:
Spray a non-stick jelly-roll pan with cooking spray. Beat egg, soy, sherry, ginger and garlic powder together. Dip chops in egg mixture, then press into bread crumbs. Bake at 350* for 30 minutes. Turn and bake 20 minutes.

Pork Chops With Apples & Stuffing

4-6 Pork chops
1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 (6 ounce) package stuffing mix (any flavor)
Apple juice
1 (21 ounce) can apple pie filling, with cinnamon
Optional: some re-plumped up raisins & maybe chopped walnuts.

Brown pork chops in oil over medium-high heat. Do not cook all the way. Take out chops.

In same pan, deglaze the pan using apple juice. (Deglazing is scraping & stirring up the browned bits of meat & drippings in the pan with a liquid, to be used for a gravy.) Add enough apple juice (in place of water) to make the stuffing mix according to package directions. Add in a few spoons of the apple pie filling for flavoring. Set aside.

Spread stuffing mix in the bottom of a greased 8x8” baking pan.

Place pork chops on top so the juices from the pork chops, will keep flavoring the stuffing, as they continue to cook.

Mix raisins & chopped walnuts into pie filling.
Spoon pie filling over top; cover with aluminum foil.

Bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes.

The apple juice, drippings & pie filling really add flavor & zing to the stuffing and unify all the flavors.

The pie filling and stuffing can be adapted for chicken instead, too. Use peach pie filling and orange juice with chicken.

:cool1:

I do pork chops two quick and easy ways...

on the foreman grill - I just sprinkle with onion powder, garlic powder, salt and pepper - then toss on the grill....this is my favorite way when I plan on having with applesauce - no overpowering sauces, etc - that way I can enjoy the applesauce.

The other easy way I do pork chops - I did earlier this week....

same seasonings - but I cook them in a frying pan covered with mushroom soup - I heavily pepper the soup (with black and white pepper) and then use the soup like a gravy over steamed rice with a veggie...

Whatever you decide....Enjoy your dinner

I was just going to post this same recipe, it is great. We pork chops like this all the time now.

I'm usually lazy and just Shake n Bake mine.. :rolleyes1

But when I'm craving some comfort food, I cook them with mushroom soup and rice:

4 pork chops
1 family sized can cream of mushroom soup
1/2 cup milk
1 box long grain & wild rice - I've also used brown rice and it worked out okay

Mix soup, milk & rice together in a 9x9 baking dish.
Put pork chops in dish & surround/cover with rice mixture
Bake, covered w/foil, at 350 for 60-65 minutes

I found this recipe last year and love it. To be honest, I generally despise pork chops so when I went hunting for a way to make them I was pretty demanding.

Make a good amount of mashed potatoes (I do 6 servings at least), sometimes I do fresh and sometimes I do the box, make them a bit on the dry side because otherwise the chops can make things soupy. I lay out a few inches of potatoes in the bottom of a Corning Ware plate and heat up my oven to 350. Next I fry up the pork chops with salt and pepper until almost cooked through, especially around the bone. Then I lay them on top of the mashed potatoes and pop it in the oven about 1/2 hour before eating. The last step is peeling and frying up some home made potato chips which are slated as soon as they come out of the pan. Lay those on top of the pork chops and with a little gravy on the side it's a one dish masterpiece. Everyone likes this dish in my house, even me:thumbsup2 This recipe was taken from my Grandmothers ancient Betty Crocker cookbook and was intended for veal chops.

whatever you decide, have them with apple sauce. that sure sould be swell.

some really good ways to prepare them above...we just had them Sun. night this way:

Center Cut with bone pork chops
egg
seasoned bread crumbs

Dip pork chops in egg then bread crumbs, coat well. Bake at 350 for 15 minutes then turn over bake another 15 minutes. They never get dry this way.

I slow simmer mine.

I use butterfly pork chops which I salt, pepper and flour.

Brown in non-stick skillet and then add water to top of chops. Put a slice of fresh lemon on each chop.

Cover and simmer 1/2 hour on each side. Uncover and continue to simmer to reduce most of the water. Stir in Heinz pork gravy or Heinz brown gravy with onions to reduced water, heat and use over chops and on baked potato.

Chops are so tender you can cut with a fork.

Enjoy.

Love this recipe! I also got if from here years ago. Its a home-run!:thumbsup2

My go to recipe for pork chops or pork tenderloin is to marinade them in 1/3 cup teriyaki sauce and 1-2 capfuls of scotch for 10-15 minutes. Then grill them.

This is easy and delicious.

My other simple method of cooking pork chops is to grill them with salt, pepper and thyme sprinkled on top. Thyme and pork is delicious!

I'm not a huge fan of pork chops, but Rachel Ray's pork chops with apple sauce is yummy!! I don't have the recipe handy, but I'm sure if you were interested you could do a web search and find it easily.

I can't wait to try the pork chops with stuffing and apples that was posted here!
