Hello,
We are owners at AKV and will stay there 8 nights in a 2 bedroom at Jambo house. We have reservations for 3 nights at BLT in a 2 bedroom LV for the last 3 nights. Now we are rethinking if we really want to stay there or try to extend our stay at AKV or try BWV or BCV for our middle of July trip.
I'm not to fond of the BLT theme( no offense ). Our children 8 and 14 really like to be in the pools whenever they have a chance. We like to take a break in between parks and stay in the resort and I just think that there is a lot more to do at AKV then BLT for I have read. We are thinking of trying the other 2 resorts as we love Epcot and HS except for DD who loves MK. I need help so we can make a decision please . We are also running out of time to even try anything else.
Thanks much!

We are BLT owners and generally stay in a MKV studio. It is one of the reasons we love BLT. We had to stay in a LV one night and it was OK. I think if I had the option of BCV or BLT LV I would choose BCV.

You are in a great location at BLT for MK for DD, but there isn't a whole lot else to do. The pools are much better at BCV. BCV is also a great location because you have easy access to both Epcot and HS.

I hope some of this information has helped. I know it is so hard to decide.

We stayed at BLT for 2 days last month for the first time. Both my boys DS 17 & DS 11 would have rather stayed at the Beach Club. I wanted to try BLT since it's the only DVC resort we have not stayed at on property. Most of the activities we were doing were not MK related rather Epcot and HS so Beach Club would have been a better choice for us. BLT is great if you are going to MK and it was nice to see fireworks from TOWL but most likely would not stay again unless spending lots of time at MK.

In January we spent a week at BLT and then a week at Beach Club Villas and enjoyed them both. We had 3 LV studios at BLT (there were 13 of us) and 7 kids ranging from 6 mos. to 12 years. We thought the BLT Pool was pretty great the one day it was warm enough to swim! :) The kids loved the slide and the toddler enjoyed the gradual entry part of the pool a lot. We loved being able to walk to/from the MK and hop on the monorail to Epcot. We pretty much liked everything about BLT and would stay there again in a heartbeat.

For our second week we moved to BCV and, of course, nothing beats Stormalong Bay. We again just didn't have many days that were warm enough for swimming. We've stayed on the Boardwalk before and love the accessibility to Epcot and HS.

So, I guess it just depends on your plans for those 3 days. If you're visiting MK/Epcot, BLT would be a great choice but, if not, you may just want to stay put at AKV. Moving isn't everyone's cup ot tea. We've also stayed at AKV in Jambo and really enjoyed it there. Loved their pool! I don't know that I think there's so much more to do there than at BLT though. At BLT you do have access to the watercraft on the lake if you choose.

Whatever you decide, have a wonderful vacation. It's great to have such a hard decision to make isn't it! :goodvibes

I agree with the others. The pool at BLT leaves a lot to be desired and is frankly one of the worst resort pools in the DVC. However, it's not horrible and my kids had fun. But it just doesn't have the same relaxing "fun" feel of the others.

If you love MK, that's the big reason to stay there. Can't beat the 5 minute walk to the turnstiles. Getting to Epcot however isn't as easy as you would think it should be. Even with the monorail, it still can take you 30 minutes or so to get to the front gate because of having to change trains at the TTC.

If your kids like pools, SAB at BCV is the best there is. And the short hop to the back gate of Epcot will spoil you. ;)

When we've stayed at BCV, we'll typically take a least one resort day where we spend all day at the pool and perusing the shops on the Boardwalk. It would be difficult to fill an entire day at BLT.

My kids prefer the pool at BLT.. they loved the slide.

I prefer BLT hands down over AK. I love the Contemp and seeing the monorail constantly passing by! I love being able to see the fireworks at MK. next time we are going on the roof to watch!

Also we love the atomsphere at the Contemp! Chef Mickeys is my sons favorite restaurant... and his favorite ride is still the monorail~ the shops are great at Contemp.

I think the rooms are sooo much brighter at BLT too!!
(and I prefer tide detergent over all...:rotfl2:)

I do think there is more to do at BWV or BCV in terms of having access to the boardwalk than at BLt.

We love BLT but we are also not ones that do alot other than visit the parks, or relax in the room and/or balcony, so for us, having a quiet resort works out.

I think, just based on your posts, you should go for one of the other resorts. If it was at the beginning of the trip, I might say stick with it just so you would know. At least, if it was the start of the trip, you would have the other part ot look forward to.

However, if it is at the end, you may find yourself constantly comparing since you are already concerned about it.

If your kids are interested in pool hopping, hopping along the monorail is pretty easy from BLT.

We would cancel AKV and split with BLT and BVC/BWV no doubt.

The good part is that being a DVC owner, there will always be another vacation to try it another way!

We stayed in a BLT LV once and loved it! The view of the water out the window was lovely and peaceful. Loved access to the Lounge for the fireworks and just hanging out in the evening. As well, we loved the monorail access as we usually visit the Poly and the Floridian during our trips!

For the EPCOT area, we are not normal as we are not really fans of BCV's and prefer BWV's much more. Stormalong Bay is nice but we are fans of the quiet pools and like the set up at BWV's much better.

If you are fairly certain that you won't like it then you should probably try to switch. It's so nice to have the variety that DVC provides so that each vacation can be different if you want. Sounds like you are looking to try the EPCOT resort vacation.

If the switching doesn't happen, don't worry. You can still have a great time at BLT!

I found the BLT decor much better in person than it looks in pictures, especially in the Top of the World lounge.

I agree that it does ot have the pool that BCV has for sure (or even AKV).

But I think the biggest allure is the access to MK. It didn't take long for us to realize how easy it was to be in your room and then to be on Main Street within the same hour.

The Lake Side is also actually really pretty with a nice unobstructed view of Bay Lake. The Contemporary and Wilderness are more set back, so it is a very nice and unique view.

If you like MK, then I would suggest giving it a try just for the location.

Although I must admit, the family overall liked the THV even better.
