I was thinking Yak & Yeti, but the Disney website indicates that only Deluxe Dining Credits can be used. Is that right? If so, any other TS options for dinner in/near AK?

Yak & Yeti is not a 2 credit location, so you should be able to use your regular dining credits there no problem.

I've never been there but I do enjoy Tusker House & if you have a car (and like to try new foods) Boma or Sanaa at Animal Kingdom Lodge are also good choices.

I'll echo Beauty and add:

Or Jiko, which IS a two credit signature meal but one of the few that are usually worth it.

Yak and Yeti is 1 TS credit. It is good, but I LOVED Sanaa at Kidani Village. It would be worth it to go there after AK closes. Then you can enjoy seeing the animals there too.

I've never tried but I heard others mention the Maya Grill which is sort of in the neighborhood. Not sure if its on the plan.

I would recommend taking the bus over to Kidani Village at the Animal Kingdom Lodge and eating at Sanaa. It is one of the best restaurants at Disney - period.

Yak and Yeti is one credit on the DDP, but there are problems with the Disney dining sites not listing the restaurants correctly. I talked to a CM about it, so hopefully they'll get it fixed. I like Yak and Yeti, but it doesn't hold a candle to Sanaa.

I also really recommend Jiko, if you want to use 2 credits. Absolutely excellent.

Yak and Yeti is awesome. It's a must do for us... you can ready my review on the link below... But.... if I was only going to Animal Kingdom Park 1 day, I'd probably only do a lunch table service (Yak and Yeti!)...so there's more time for park stuff. Since the park usually closes early, you could go almost anywhere for dinner... especially if you have park hoppers.

Ideas I'd consider after AK Park....depending on age of children and energy level...

Take the bus from AK Park to another resort for dinner. In 2009, we took the bus to AK lodge and enjoyed Jiko.... Bus was only about 10 minutes.... we took a taxi back to our resort. Or better... take the bus to Ft. Wilderness with a Hoop Dee Doo dinner reservation....after the show, take the boat ride from there to Magic Kingdom, then bus to POR. (I like the boat rides and don't mind taking the extra time).

Take the bus to one of the Epcot area resorts (Boardwalk Inn, Beach Club, Yacht Club) for dinner. There's mini-golf courses by Swan and Dolphin resort, and entertainers (magic, comedy, juggling) on the Boardwalk in the evening. I don't think a taxi would be expensive from here to POR, not that far.

Go back to the resort for dinner. Call it an early evening and get up extra early the next day for a park.

Downtown Disney? - Never been there but that's an option I'd consider.

Just another vote for Sanaa. It is wonderful. The food and the ambiance are perfect. I would not waste a table service credit on Yak and Yeti. We had a horrible experience there. And I think you're wasting valuable park time eating there. The park is only open until 5, so you really need to maximize your time there. We are doing a 6:00 dinner at Sanaa the day we do AK. We will head over to Kidani after park closes and have nice walk around and look at the animals while we wait for our table. The bread service is wonderful as is the wine list. I also love Jiko. It is my favorite restaurant on property. But it is 2 credits. But totally worth it. I usually like to go there without the kids tho. We like to be able to linger there. We especially like to request to be seated in the wine room in Jiko. It is quiet and romantic.

I haven't eaten at Sanaa or Jiko, but I do love Boma. I would definitely head over to AKL and go to one of those restaurants. Plus you would get the opportunity to see the hotel which is one of my favorites!

If you are on the dining plan and what to only use one credit I agree with PP's who say Boma, it's the best buffet I have had in a long time with a great atmosphere. If you are up for using multiple credits, I have had one of the best meals ever at Jiko.

I've eaten at all three - Boma, Jiko, and Sanaa - and if you are willing to spend 2 TS credits at Jiko - I'd do that if you are looking for a nice sit-down meal with great food and service. It will NOT be quick. If you are looking for some adventurous options but don't want the length of a signature dining experience - Boma has a great buffet. Sanaa - I love Indian food - but I didn't love what I got at Sanaa and I thought the menu was a bit limited. It wasn't bad - mine just wasn't awesome. The setting is nice, service was great, and I'd go back and order something different and see if my opinion changees. I think Jambo House - Jiko and Boma - is a bit more "impressive" of a location to visit and the gift shop is larger in comparison to Kidani Village where Sanaa is.

All three of those are close to AK - and hence a good choice.

Otherwise - take a bus and go wherever!!!!!

I have to say I was very impressed by Tusker House last year. It has a very large buffet and huge dessert bar for some of the lowest buffet prices in Disney:rotfl:
