Good news, Westerfield gets death penalty

I'm so relieved to read that not everyone on the Dis boards is as overjoyed as Dan Murphy et al. I have really become disillusioned with the whole spirit of the dis community recently with this post and a few others. It sure would be a more pleasant place to visit if we stuck to the hugs and pixie dust.

I thought this was a very moving piece and deserves reading by the blood-lusting crowd here. As most of them have Eros on "ignore", maybe someone WILL actually read it.

Thanks, Pollyanna, but I think that the people who have me on their IGNORE list wouldn't "get" the thrust of Dickens' piece. ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;)...................

DAMO, hugs and Pixie Dust are like makeup; they can make people look "attractive" but they really don't define the soul of members...... :( :( :(

...So are flowers....

Belief or disbelief in the death penalty doesn't define one's soul either. :)

Westerfield's life was over upon his arrest. No matter how long he lives, it will be an utterly torturous existence. He'll spend anywhere from 10-20 years on Death Row and file numerous appeals (they are automatic I believe and rightly so as insurance against executing an innocent) and in that time California will probably outlaw and reinstate capital punishment 3 or 4 times. He's 50 now. At 65 imo if he's not found innocent, he'll have his sentence commuted because we don't want to execute the elderly.

This guy isn't dying anytime soon in other words, unless it's natural.

That is all.

ALWAYS nice to hear from you, CRB#33 :) :) :) . Of course, you're absolutely right. My cyber flowers totally camouflage the REAL EROS:cool:  . In real life I'm a bottom-dwelling, scum-sucking, atheistic, lowlife Internet Troll ;) ;) ;) . WOW, I feel a LOT better getting all of that off my chest :jester: :jester: :jester: .........

CRB, I'm ALWAYS gratified to help women get things off of their chest ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ........

Boy, you just don't do anything but totally solidify my instincts about you.

And since I would not put up with that demeaning remark IRL, I will leave this thread. It was a piggish thing to say, but very typical.

This monster gave up his "human being" status when he killed that child. So when he is finally killed, murdered or what ever you want to call it to ensure he never does this again, I won't see it as the taking of ANOTHER human life. He isn't human in my book. A human wouldn't do what he did.

He's a monster.....and soon he'll be a DEAD monster. But not soon enough!

we3luvdisney,

I didn't really want more quotes when I asked you to explain. I just wanted for you to explain to me what it meant. Seriously, I don't understand what it is that is trying to be said! You're not helping me any by giving me more quotes that I don't understand.

If you are trying to make a point, maybe you should give a bit of your interpretation with your bible quotations.

Damo,

Your original questions:

Can someone explain this to me? Is there a word or two missing in there?

After reading my original post I believe you were correct. The source I obtained the quote may have left some words out. So, I found the King James version and posted the verse.

As for you question -- "Can someone explain this to me?" This is a loaded question! Everyone interprets the verses of the Bible differently. I provided the quote so others could read the verse and allow them the opportunity the interpret the verse

I presently live in the "Bible Belt" of the south. I have been told by the "local" religion, which has the majority, that I will be going to hell because I'm Catholic. My interpretation of the verses of the Bible will remain with me.

Yes, I'm Catholic and I believe in the death penalty, which goes against the church. I also believe priest should marry, women should become priest and I'm all for birth control. I'm sure the Pope would love to sit me down and have a little chat.;) ;)

teejay32-The murderer will live a very easy life till his death(lets pray it happens soon). He will get free food, free medical care and all the enjoyments of a basic hotel at the expense of the taxpayers while the victim is no longer alive. And he will have many among us feeling sorry for him like some on this thread and im sure alot here will become his pen pal or internet buddy and can help keep his spirits up and then can go light candles and cry when he is hopefully put to death!!
And their is nothing wrong with feeling joy/happiness when a killer gets his deserved punishment and is put to death in a far less painful manner than the vicitms of the crime.
Dickens is a good wordsmith but his bleeding heart mentality is sickening!!! He may write differently if his wife/child were the victim of a crime and he wasnt there as a passive observer!!

I have not been able to find any evidence that the death penalty (in the U.S.) has ever executed even one (1) innocent person in the past century. One needs to remember that ~13,000 American citizens are murdered each year by released and paroled criminals.
Three questions:

1. Do you agree that there have been many death row inmates exonerated through DNA evidence?

2. Do you believe that only since the advent of DNA analysis have innocent people been sentenced to death?

3. Would evidence that the death penalty (in the U.S.) has ever executed even one (1) innocent person in the past century change your mind anyway?

TONY, the Nazis labeled the JEWS as SUB-HUMAN in an effort to justify their extermination by the by the Reich

And so the EVER SO KNOWLEDGEABLE DOCTORS OF TODAY can supply the Lethal injections to those who THEY think that should die because of       (much like the good doctor Kevorkian)

Are they sure the patients are terminal? How Many doctors make that determination? In my own personal experience, 2, count them, 2 doctors said my wife would either be severly brain damaged or wouldn't make it through the night after her "diagnosis"! We are traveling to Jamaica in 2 weeks and I "Thank God for that! Are those doctors considered to be "quacks"? Certainly not in my eyes. They perform a very valuable part in God's plan! They are not perfect as I am not and never proclaimed to be!

Only God can play God and I'm willing to go along with that! However, 12 jurors are certainly more of a cross section of the public than 2 doctors wouldn't you say?

Capital Punishment is definately Biblical! Both Old and New Testament. IMHO!!

I Love you all,

I have a post also with a subject line of Good News, Dan & I posted at about the same time the other night so I noticed the similiarity in the titles.

My good news is that my 11yr nephew had his scans and is now marking his 2nd year as a cancer survivior. That's great news to me and something to celebrate.

That this community is so divided on this issue that we feel the need to celebrate anyones death is very sad :(

Is making a point worth it?

Good evening, my dear brother:D . You're a litttttttttle confused, but we're all tired due to the lateness of the hour.

The only lethal injections administered in this country are given to inmates who are victimized by state-sponsored killing :( :( :( :( .

Under the Oregon assisted suicide law, terminally ill patients are provided with ORAL medication which THEY MUST BE ABLE TO TAKE BY THEMSELVES.

I'm THANKFUL that your wonderful wife was able to survive :) :) :) :) :) ........

By the by! I forgot to mention an aspect of this post that I think is being totaly blown out of proportion. Although I never met Dan Murphy in person, I must object to the generalization that is being made about him because of his use of verbiage on the original post. To use the words of Jesus "Let you who is without sin, cast the first stone!" Some of us speak or type with emotion. Dan or myself are not immune to that fact. I am in no way assuming what he meant in his original post but I can assure anyone who is not in the know, that Dan Murphy is a {b}Standup[/B] guy and that's all I've got to say about that!!!
