A really nice thing happened yesterday and I thought I'd share it with you all.:goodvibes My mum went shopping at our local Sainsbury's (which is massive and on a huge retail park) unfortunately she lost her purse.:sad2: It had cash, cards, ID - basically her whole life was in it. The amazing thing was, that a lady had found it outside in a disabled parking bay and had handed it in!:thumbsup2

My mum has had an awful year - we lost my Dad in March and she has recently been diagnosed with a terminal illness - so she deserved some good luck. I am going to write to our local paper to thank the lady publicly as we have no way of contacting her.

There are some really good people out there.:goodvibes

Thank goodness there are some good people around, your poor mum must've been beside herself with worry  Hugs to her, and to the lovely person who handed the purse in

I am so glad!

I am one of those people who always hands it in- I would like someone to do that for me!

Once someone forgot to take the money out of the cash machine and just walked away. At this point I didn't realise that if you left it, the machine would just swallow it again, so I grabbed it and ran down the street after him. It was about £40, which is a lot of money for me, and he was so grateful when I returned it. The lady behind me in the cash point queue told me I was a mug when I came back and that I should of kept it, but he ended up coming back and giving me a tenner which I refused enough until I finally just took it.

I was just glad to have helped, I didn't expect anything, but a mention in the paper might be nice.

Thats good to hear

I think there are more people out there that will do nice things for others than we think there are - its just that we always here the bad stories - good stories dont sell!!

My DS helped an old lady take her shopping home a couple of weeks ago - he carried the shopping and it took them 1.5hrs to do what took him 10 mins!
He has since done more shopping for her - he doesnt expect anything - and niether should he - and he is happy just to help out.

Thats lovely news, so pleased your mum got her purse back. I always beleive in karma so would always hand something in that I found.

I remember when i worked at sainsburys a little boy came up with his mum to us at the customer service desk as he had found a £5 note on the floor, it was a late Friday night and we had been really busy and we were in a quiet period & it could have belonged to anyone. Management said he could keep it as he was being very honest by handing it in, his mum & him still wouldn't take it until we finally convinced them as they had done the right thing, whereas many would have just pocketed the money.

So glad your mum got her purse back. For all the nasty people there are a lot more nice and honest people thankfully :goodvibes

Thats a great story, as not everything thats good happens gets told.
I would always hand items in Like pp said, found money at Manchester last July when transferring, do not know how much, but managed to find who it belonged to, as when we handed it in ,they had just reported losing it.

Seems like there are a lot of good Disers too.:goodvibes
My mum had her purse swiped in M&S at the start of the year too. She also had water pouring through her ceiling at the start of the week. She is more deserving of good luck than anyone I know! Perhaps she should have a go on the lottery, seeing as her luck is changing.;) I have always handed in money if I've found it. I couldn't live with myself if I kept it.

I agree, I hope you mum is ok after the year she has had, and yourself  I wish her lots of luck for 2011 :goodvibes I also believe in Karma, what comes around goes around. If your nice, people will be nice back :wizard:
