We are planning a trip to Disneyland for the 1st time. We are planning to stay offsite at the Candy Cane Inn as we have heard such good reviews about it. We were going to book directly with the hotel as we have to book our flights seperate anyway as we are flying from the UK and we are doing a multi location trip.
But I was wondering what we would be missing out on if we booked direct with the hotel as opposed to booking the good neighbour package? I can't seem to find any info out about the package so I was wondering what you got with it and would it cost significantly more that booking seperately.
Thanks, Danauk

You get luggage tags, lanyard and pin, priority seating for the shows in DCA, passes to Mickeys Toon Town Morning Madness, and a book of coupons for discounts in downtown disney (and a couple in the park).

I recently found that its about $75 more on a 4 night reservation, to book the package thru Disney travel vs the candy cane and tickets seperatly.

In other words, you'll be paying $75 more than you need to pay for a bunch of worthless trinkets, priority seating for shows that never fill up, discounts that will require spending more, and extra time in the most neglected part of the park.

A bientot.

You can book the CCI separately and then purchase your hopper passes through Disney. Mention to the agent that you are staying at the CCI and you get all the other stuff. The early entrance was nice and the discount book had some useful coupons.

Pocono

Try booking through costco, you get a $20 gift card to use in the park, a character breakfast for all in your party and early entrance to Toon Town. It is the same price as booking through Disneyland.com but you get the freebies and the character breakfast is expensive.

Costco.com doesnt offer the candy cane as a hotel option.

Thanks for the info everyone. I think we will still book seperately. It is just DH and I on the trip, we don't have kids so wouldn't use the Toontown madness pass. I think we will save the $75 for something else. I will mention we are staying at the CCI though when I book the hopper tickets.

Check with getawaytoday.com They usually have great prices and are extrememly helpful and reliable. They don't always have the best deal, but it's worth looking into.

We always book ourselves too. We've never found a better deal. We are going in about a week and are staying at hojoanaheim.com. I keep checking rates and have saved us almost $200 on our five night stay since I booked back in Nov. They keep changing it for me. Yay! More $$$ for food and fun!

Getaway doesn't offer the candy cane either. You have to book thru disney travel or direct with the hotel. They never had rooms on expedia or one of those either. I've spent many hours trying to find a deal, as its our favorite hotel.

The Candy Cane Inn is usually hard if not impossible to find on a package (as Linda was saying). Its so popular and has such a flawless reputation it doens't need to be part of package deals to sell rooms.
