what are the benefits (extra perks) if you stay at one of the "good neighbor" hotels recommended by disney?

thanks

steve

I don't think there are any perks, these hotels are just approved by Disney to be good hotels to stay at.

Canuck eh???

As PP suggested and maybe as you know, since you used quotes, good neighbor is a marketing term. Does mean places are good or close nieghbors to the resort.

Are you asking about one of disney's listed "good neighbors" or any of the hotels on harbor?

A canuck that spells neighbour without a "u"? I'd check their papers ;)

My mistake, Sudberry sounds like Sudbury. The place in Canada I learned to associate with Suds, that is beer, because I've had a couple Molsons and Labatts on that side of the border. Likely on the same night I heard the name Sudbury.

Still on this site if referring to Good Neighbors, I think it should be spelt correct.

OP..... If you are talking about the Good Neighbor hotels that you book through Disney, the benefits aren't as good as the disney resorts themselves. In fact ths hotels aren't nessecarily close or as cheap as booking on you own and not through disney.

If you want to know the benefits of the hotels close to Disney, it a rather large discussion. Some have free parking, some have free breakfast......

Good Neighbor hotels are bookable through Disney Travel or Costco Travel. Both offer packages that are the same perks as the on site Disney resorts. Current perks are 4th night free, Magic Morning, Toon Town Madness, $20 Disney gift card and Lanyard pin set. Costco Travel adds a premium Character Meal for the same package price as Disney Travel.

Costco's Disney Good Neighbor deal isn't bad because of the added character meal. However, you have to pay rack rate for the hotels and a minimum 2 day Disney pass although you do get the 4th night free.

In comparing the best deal I could get booking by other means I found the Costco package a decent deal. It was priced about the same as booking hotel, passes and character meal seperate. So the Magic Morning, Toon Town and lanyards were a freebie perk.

For the hotel you are looking at you need to price everything out seperate and see if its a good deal. Sometimes it is, sometimes its not.

I think they are generally much cheaper than Disney's hotels.

We also found the perks associated with the Costco deal a good value - although not much cheaper than booking everything separately (but I really like getting the nice, neat package ahead of time).

But the perks are associated with buying a vacation package (whether you choose an on-site hotel or a good neigbour hotel), not with the hotel itself. 'Good Neighbour' is really just a marketing term referring to hotels they have partnered with to offer packages.

The PERK is not paying the resort hotel rates but being close enough to be walkable, for most, to the parks.
