Good morning.. I've just been fired........

I'm probably just being cranky here - and I know there is NO way that I'm going to end up with a "good reference" from this (considering Mr. Nice Guy's attitude this morning) - but I'm sorely considering waiting to see what my "termination letter" says - and then firing a letter back to him letting him know that it very well may have been the disgusting actions of one of the other employees there that got me sick to begin with!! (Remember my post about the "disgusting" sneezer??)

Also - just to rattle his cage - I'm going to call Human Resources on Monday and ask for a copy of the doctors note from when I was out with the kidney stone awhile back and say it's "just for my own documentation".. Let THEM wonder why I want it!

Wow, what a real jerk. I would look into filing some type of complaint against the company just because of his poor attitude. I mean your sick, he could have a little bit of compasion.

I'm sorry that you had a job separation today. (That's what we used to call it!!)

If the previous boss who was so supportive can still be reached, ask him for a letter of reference. If he is still with the company, you can ask him for a personal letter since you understand he probably can't give you a company letter. Then when you interview, list him as your supervisor for however long and give his letter. AND list the other supervisor for the less than 90 days time and they should weigh the other letter much heavier. At least I would when I was in a hiring position. Everyone understands that there are sometimes conflicts with management changes. (now, I'm not in any way excusing the new manager) and many times companies lose much better people in a changeover than the managers that they keep. I've been on both sides and either way it just bites.

Good luck and I can tell from your attitude and outlook you will be on to better things than where you are coming from.

C.Ann, I am SO sorry you're having to go through this. I was actually fired for having pneumonia once, too. And I am MUCH better off without that job.

My DH just got a new job after being laid off. The great thing is that he found a job that he LOVES going to, for a boss that is just the BEST guy. I have no doubt you'll find something else you love, too!

One of the girls from work has been IM'*** me all evening and it seems that in order to save face, "Mr. Nice Guy" is going around telling everyone I was "laid off".. NOT.. I was FIRED for being out with pnuemonia..

I can't wait to see what my "termination letter" says when it gets here.. I'm sure he'll want me to return my time card.. Maybe I should do it in person - just to "set everyone straight" on my sudden disappearance...

He has me SOOOOOOOOOO ticked off!!!!!

If I wanted to be a real you-know-what, I could turn into a "whistle blower" and probably put that company right out of business - BUT - there are others that work there who are REALLY nice people and I don't want to do anything that would cause them to lose their jobs..

So - I just sit here seething..

I'll get over it though - it's just going to take a bit of time..

And by the way - the support here has been WONDERFUL !!

Sorry if this is a repeat, but I can't read all the replies. I don't know where you work, but this does not sound right. What about the Family Medical Leave Act? By law you are allowed a certain amount of days (120, I believe) to be off for medical emergencies including taking care of parents. I also think by law, employers need to let their employees know about this and allow them to use it. I would be calling a lawyer for legal advice.
