My husband and I are expecting our third child and we found out yesteday it is a boy. We had already decided on naming him Austin prior to finding out what we are having. We have been having a difficult time picking the "perfect" middle name for him. I like Austin James but it doesn't flow smoothly with our last name. Our last name is Charrier (pronounced Sherry A) so anything that ends with the "s" or "sh" sound will not flow smoothly since you have to distinctively pause between the middle and last name to pronounce them correctly. For example, if you try to say Austin James Charrier with out pausing to make sure you say it correctly you will say Austin Jame Charrier. We'd like some suggestions of middle names to use. The middle names we have thought of so far are: Christopher, Edward, Eli, Jacob, Gregory, and Matthew. My husband's name is Gregory Michael Charrier, so we named our other son Cameron Michael. We used his middle name for our son and my middle name for our daughter, Macy Lynn. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks ahead of time.

How about Austin Joseph....sounds very distinguished. You could then use the nickname AJ if you wanted, which I think is adorable!

ETA: My sons middle name is Kennedy. Many people think it is a maiden name or a family name, but I just liked it. His full name is Brady Kennedy.

I like both Joseph and Matthew. Of course my middle name is Joseph and youngest sons first name is Joseph and my oldest sons middle name is Matthew. You could use my youngest sons middle name Kyle.

How exciting for you!
I love Austin Matthew....but I have a couple of other ideas. The long e sound in names that end in "y" have a nice flowing sound with Charrier and work well as middle names, for example, Henry, Bradley, and Riley, and of course, Gregory, after his dad!
Whatever name you choose I'm sure will suit him perfectly. Good luck! :goodvibes

Since they don't use them on a daily basis, I think middle names should represent someone, like family names. First names are usually chosen because you like the name. Ds6's middle name is Robert, after my grandfather (his first is actually my other grandfather's name), and dd11's middle name is Douglas, names after my dad (his first name is FIL's name).

Our ds's middle name is William...one dgp's first name was William, and the other dgp's middle name was William...easy for us!

I do have to say agree with PP that Austin James sounds great...:goodvibes
(Maybe because my first name is Jamie) :rolleyes1

The middle name "Daniel" popped into my head as soon as I read your post. Don't know why. Just did.

I would go with Gregory since both of your other kids have one of mom and dads names.

A friend just had a baby named and named him Austen John. However, that baby was named for his great grandfathers (both John).

I agree with pp, I personally would use Gregory even if other names flowed better...I like having that family connection in middle names and since you did it with the older two I would continue.

I may be biased (see siggie ;)) but I love Austin Gregory! Flows great with your last name and carries on the tradition you've had with your other kids.

From memory so may not be exact:

"Danger Powers"
"Actually its Austin, Danger is my middle name"

My daughter was going to be Austin Kyle if she was a boy, but then someone else in my family had a boy and named him Austin so we named our son Kyle Austin.

I agree...Austin Gregory sounds great... plus when he is older he wont be pulling the card of "I didn't get either of your names so I must not be as special' :lmao:

Another vote for Austin Joseph. I love both of those names. Good luck with the pregnancy. I'm sure whatever name you pick, you'll know that it is right as soon as you see his precious little face. Isn't it exciting????
