Good meal at Narcoosses?

I'm trying to decide between Cal. Grill and Narcoosses for a nice dinner out with DH. I don't hear much about Narcoosses, so I'm wondering if anybody has had a great meal there? What would you recommend as a main entree?

This is just my opinion, but if I was going to pick between Narcoosses and the Ca. Grill, I'd pick Ca. Grill. If is that you've been to california grill a whole lot of times and want to try something different, Narcoosses is OK. That's how I remember it, just OK. Not bad, but not great either. I liked the mussels. It just wasn't that remarkable though, to me. It was perfectly fine, just not as good as we had expected it to be.

I agree. The Cal Grill is one of my very favorite restaurants --anywhere, and we go into NYC a lot. The food is terrific, the wine list superb (had the best red wine ever there and now spend time trying to track it down in NY!) and if you can time it for the fireworks, well, what could be better.

I guess I'm in a CG rut, but it could be worse...

Narcoosees is one of our absolute FAVORITE restaurants in all of WDW. Love the food, the service, and especially the view. I highly recommend it!

Eeyore - what dishes have you tried and would recommend? My DH is leaning more towards CG......so maybe that's where we'll end up and save Narcoosses for another trip. Unless you can persuade me................and him........ He reads these boards now so tell us what you like to eat there.

Hi! I rarely ever post, too shy, just read y'alls great advice, but I had to jump in to defend Narcoossee's!

We ate here last year and wow! We really loved the Butternut Squash and Crab Soup, licked the bowl. Can't remember, I think my DD had the filet and my DS always has chicken strips, but the Seared Scallops were to die for! (Only got 4, but they were jumbo, I was certainly full afterwards.)

While we were eating, we got to watch the Water Pageant, and they dimmed the lights and piped in the music for MK fireworks! This is now one of our favorites!

I thought gollum was supposed to like raw fish...no mussles but steak, ok, see if threeboysmom will show you the menu for artist point - same neighborhood, lots of red meat.

Mussles are not fish, they are bottom feeding crustaceans.

And I like steak cuz the DW will cut it into tiny pieces for me. Also, do they have mashed po-ta-toes? I like em boiled, mashed or even in a stew, because I don't have many teeth.

I like the the water pageant. Especially the fish. (Am I contradicting myself?)

This one has possibilities if it has lots of Beef.

How about rabbit? Got any Rabbit?

I have had the mussels, the surf and turf, with filet mignon and lobster with vanilla sauce (absolutely mouth watering, and melts in your mouth).

I am a steak and seafood type of gal, so Narcoosees far out ranks California Grill for me.

Three boys and eeyore...I have to agree, Narcoossee's is the best...They have The best Filet Mignon on property and it is served with a Potato Gratin or you can ask them for Wasabi mashed which are to die for. Apps...Lobster Crab Cakes....Baked Stuffed Clams,. Narcoossee's Chowder that is out of this world. Fresh Fish always, The Chef claims to get the freshest available...the alst time we were there they had Artic Char and Black Grouper...delicious.....I like Cal Grille but LOVE NARCOOSSEE's
if you want more menu info, I suppose you can call the restaurant and ask for the Chefs?? I would assume they can help you out...But Narcoossee's would be my choice by far

How about rabbit? Got any Rabbit?

The only place I can think of with Rabbit is artist point. The Chef that is there now used to be at Citricos, back when Citricos was kind of "known" for the Chef's use of game. They have things like rabbit sausage at artist point. The chef that used to be at artist point back when they were "known" for the vegetarain dishes (and before that at Ca Grill when they were "known" for the veggie), Annette, is now at Jiko, and you can see her influence there. FlaJstme, have you eaten at flying fish? At one time I would have said that they had the best seafood, but now the Chef that used to be at flying fish is at Ca. Grill, so I don't know. I wasn't very impressed with narcooses two-three years ago, but you are so enthusiastic perhaps things have changed there. I'll be interested to see how that unfolds.

I would just look at the menus at allearsnet.com before I called the chef-

We like both and have been to each on several occasion. I would have to say I prefer Narcoosses. You can get a great view at either and I would highly recommend being there during the fireworks. I also have had the filet and it is great. My DH had the best fish he had ever had at Narcoossses, even better than the Flying Fish.

Can you hear the music from wishes piped in the restaurant ? How about outside? Is there a deck if we are not yet seated and can you hear the music from there?

Trying to figure out how to see and hear wishes without the crowds!

I've been to both and would go to Narcoosses again any day! I had a vegetable dish with pasta that they whipped up. It was awesome. My boyfriend had the Seared Jumbo Scallops and raved that it was his favorite meal of the vacation. He also had crab cakes for an appetizer that he loved. For dessert, we shared the Key Lime Creme Brulee. YUMMY! The service was friendly and attentive.

We did not like the food at the California Grill. Maybe it was an off night, but it was very bland tasting. Not worth the hype.

They do pipe in the music and the wait staff will actually escort you out to the porch at Narcoosses to watch or you can watch from you table if you get one with a good view.
