Good hotel near US

Thinking of booking a few days and heading to Universal Studios for next Christmas. Any good hotels in the area near there or is it best to stay at one farther away and drive there instead?

If you are visiting the parks during Christmas, I highly recommend you stay onsite. When you stay onsite, you get unlimited express passes.

yes during the busy Christmas season you will need the FOLE (front of line entry).

Depending on exactly when during christmas you're going, you may find a good rate at the on-site hotel. I went from 12/16-12/22 for $149, then when the rate went up I transferred to Nick Hotel and got a 2bedroom kidsuite from 12/23-12/25 at a special rate of $169 for the first 2 nights and the 3rd night free (total with tax was only $380 for the nights).

Our wedding reception is being held on July 21st at the Doubletree Hotel at the entrance to Universal. Its a beautiful hotel and I wouldn't hesitate staying there at all. Has quite a few restaurants and just got a very nice renovation. Added a great jacuzzi that changes colors and everything. I highly reccomend
