Good Hand Held Vacuum

I need some recommendations for a good hand held vacuum. I currently have a dust devil that is about 10 years old and the suction is just not happening anymore.

Any recommendations?

I will primarly using it to clean my 2 sets of carpeted steps.

I got a Eureka Quick-up from Amazon ... I love it for stairs, car, etc. Check the reviews on Amazon ... I have long-haired dogs so any vacuum with a beater needs to be cleaned often but I think the suction on this Eureka is great ...
