Can anyone recommend a good guide book for Southern Cal? We are planning a 10 day trip for early Nov. It will be me, DH, DS4 and DD1 and we plan on spending 5 days or so in San Diego, and 5 days in Anaheim.

I've done a lot of research online, but I always like to have a guide book to take along. I looked on Amazon and none of them really looked like they covered both areas well. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks!

I went to my local library and checked out several. One in particular I found helpful was titled "Southern California for Families" or something like that. I checked out some other Southern California books and some specific to Disneyland. I enjoyed the Disneyland ones and as for the other Southern Cali tour books... it was good to see some detailed maps and see how they rated hotels, but other then that I didn't find them all that useful. I kept a notebook close by and jotted down several URLs I want to check out b/c I'd like go right to the source. I have to say the most useful info I found was right here. :thumbsup2

Top Ten Los Angeles is a great little guidebook, full of pictures and maps and ideas. It's from Dk books. I've seen it in libraries and for sale on ebay and amazon.

We just returned from a 2 wk trip through Calif. that I planned with "California for Dummies". I checked it out of the library first, then bought my own copy. I found it very helpful - every restaurant and hotel we tried that was recommended by the book was great.

Good luck!
