So I am starting this PTR and hopefully it will end in a TR I tend to get intimidated by the thought of writing the TR and dont end up doing it. However I am determined this time!

I am super excited about this trip! We are going with one of my best friends and her soon to be husband. They are getting married next week:bride::groom: (aug 7th) and this trip is our wedding present to them. Linda has never been to Disneyland, and John has but it was forever ago, before they had DCA. I love going with people who have never been because seeing them so excited and in awe of it always makes me appreciate the magic even more!

Cast of characters: Matin and I(Genee)

so that takes care of the who.....

What: GOING TO DISNEYLAND!!!!!::MinnieMo::MickeyMopluto:

Where: The happiest place on earth and the Del Sol Inn

When: Aug 28th and 29th

Why: Because it is oh so fun!:jumping1:

The plans so far are.... I work from 3:30 in the morning to about 7:45 am so I am going to go to work on Friday, then Martin and I will hit the road where I will get some sleep. We live in Redding CA and Linda and John live in Fresno so we will pick them up on the way down. Hopefully we will get to Anaheim just around dinner time, check in to the Del Sol Inn, and have dinner somewhere in Downtown Disney. Linda and I loooooove to shop so we will probably wander around DD for a while and then maybe hit the Disney outlet or something. We have decided to be Disney dorks and get matching Minnie mouse shirts lol Saturday morning the real fun begins! We will be in the parks Saturday and Sunday. Then Monday drop them back off and head home. It will be very hard to get up for work the next morning, but it is sooo worth it!!

We are trying to decide if we want to do the WOC picnic, or wait for the fastpasses. Martin said he would be willing to wait in line to get our FP while I take them around to explore, but I would feel so bad leaving him all by his lonesome while we had fun. So we are still debating about it.:confused3 The only other thing we have planned is to do dinner at the Blue Bayou, in my opinion it is a must for first timers! Plus its my favorite :goodvibes
Also I am hoping to do some live posting while we are there, but I might get caught up in the fun and forget to do it lol OK well thats all I have for now.

I leave on monday for Lindas wedding. It isnt until the 7th but I am going down there to help her get ready stuff. I am super excited because the wedding is in Monterey so I will get to go to the beach and the weather should be really nice! I will post some pictures when I get back:upsidedow

wow..what great friends you are to treat the newlyweds to DLR..it doesnt get any sweeter!! Have you stayed at the Del Sol Inn before? I am curious abouut this hotel because I have heard mixed reviews. If you are gonna eat at DTD, have you considered the $25 GC at restaurant.com? If you use a promo code you can purchase one for $2. I purchased one myself for our trip Aug. 26th! It is for House of BLues. Just an idea!!:thumbsup2
I have been noticing that GLow Fest is scheduled to stop Aug. 22nd. I am bummed about that! I have heard it is such fun and crossing my fingers that they will extend it to the end of summer nightastic ( the 29th). Have a great time at the wedding!!

YAY I have a reader:yay: We havn,t stayed at the Del Sol Inn, I am a little worried because I have heard mixed reviews too, we figured the only way to find out is to stay there so keep your fingers crossed for us. Thanks for the idea for the giftcard I am checking it out right now! What is the promo code you need to use to get it for 2 bucks? I thought Glow Fest did go through the 29th, what a bummer if it doesnt! :sad2:

Okay, the promo code is PLATE, but it expires tonight!I am sure they will send another one this week, I seem to get them every week since I purchased my GC! If you miss the offer tonight, I will post the new one when I get it!
Crossing fingers that Del Sol Inn is going to be fine. I am thinking it is in walking distance also!
I am gonna call in some dining reservations tomorrow, so I will ask guest services about Glow Fest! I really want to see it...sounds very fun. And...glowing drinks!! Too cool!!

Thanks, i did miss the promo so it would be awesome if you could send the new one my way when you get it! :thumbsup2 I just talked to one of my friends that went to DLR a few weeks ago and they said that glow fest is probably the coolest thing they have ever seen at Disneyland, so I really hope its still there! The Del Sol Inn is definitely in walking distance it is right across the street from the main entrance. Thats why we were willing to take a chance on it.

Okay, I will email the new code when I get it. Today's code was for $10...not a deal.:surfweb: They will post a good deal sometime this week. I have read mixed reviews of HoB so I hope the food will be good!!!
I have heard great things about Glow Fest as well!!! Hope we get to see it!!:dance3:

I have some info today. First, I did receive an email today for restaurant.com ..the code is SUNNY. It allows you to purchase a $25 GC for $5. not too bad!!
ALso, I made my reservations with DIsney dining yesterday and asked about Glowfest. She made some calls and then told me that they have not confirmed an end date yet, but they are expected to continue through the end of the summer promo, which is Aug. 29th..yay!! So, I am crossing my fingers!!:cheer2:

I am back from Lindas wedding and we had a blast! It was a looooong week but we had so much fun, and the weather in Monterey CA was beautiful, it never got over 65. So here are some pictures from our week......

She was beautiful, and he was so happy! So next up is getting ready for DISNEYLAND! We cant wait!!!!

WHat a beautiful wedding gown!! Wow!!! :dance3:

I know it wasnt the one she wanted, she ordered one online and this one came by accident, but it turned out so pretty on her! Of course shes a beautiful person inside and out so anything would have looked good on her :goodvibes
I just noticed you are going for your daughters 4th birthday how fun is that?!?!

Coming in before you leave....so thats a plus!! The wedding looked like it was beautiful.....your friends dress was gorgeous!!

We just got back from a 12 day trip to Disneyland!! We had looked at Del Sol for that trip but after reading the negative reviews, we changed our minds & actually upgraded at the HoJo for the Disney View. I hope you have a positive experience at the motel!

The Glo Fest was pretty & very, VERY loud. Ok, that might give my age away....but my 21, 23, & 25 yr old all said the same. They didn't find too much interest in it. We popped in for about 5 mins & turned around & left. The dancers on podiums reminded me of the go go dancers on Laugh-In (tv show from the early 70's).....lol

Love Blue Bayou.....but way out of our price range with my family size. I enjoyed the experience & sitting waterside & watching the boats float by (and occassionally bantering with people on them....lol)

What a great friend you are to take the newlyweds!!! I'm sure they'll love it & it will be a trip you all will remember!!

Have a great time & I hope you do come back & give us a TR.....I'll be waiting to read it!! :surfweb:

Thanks for joining in!

As far as glow fest goes my friends went to Disneyland a little while ago and the first night they saw glow fest was grad night, so there were a lot of kids dancing and having a great time! Then they said every night after that was kind of a let down because the first night everyone was so enthusiastic. So we will see :confused3

I feel like the Blue Bayou is a must for all first timers. It just seems like there is a extra sprinkle of magic in there. I know a lot of people feel otherwise but I really enjoy it. We eat extremely cheap the rest of the time we are there (my husband is 6'1 and only 125 pounds and has the smallest stomache of any one I have ever met) so we are able to share most of our meals. No matter how hard he tries he just cant gain wait or eat more. So if he is turned sideways in any of the pictures, you might not be able to see him

I told myself if I only had one reader I probably wouldnt do much of a trip report, but you make two readers, and someone who is expecting one, so give you one I shall! :upsidedow

The official countdown starts!!!!

10 days!!!!

It just hit me as i was reading a few other trip reports that there is only 10 days left until my trip!! Woo Hoo!!!

I havnt really done any more planning other than looking for Linda and I's matchy matchy shirts we are planning on getting. ;) I was thinking we should get them before we go because they are cheaper online, but my husband and Linda think they will feel more magical if we buy them there. I however have fallen in love with this one:lovestruc
103264MS

so Im hoping they have it in the parks.
I am so excited for World of Color, but i feel like it is going to take over one of our days. Hopefully it is worth it to Linda and John who have never been. Im sure Disney will not disappoint, they never do.

I need to start thinking about what to pack and stuff, I always over pack! However I do want to try to kinda color coordinate my husband and my outfits so they look good in pictures. I know totally cheesy, but I want to try to start a scrapbook of our trips over the years, and this might add a cute little touch. :goodvibes

I have been trying to lose weight for a while now, and I have lost 20 or so pounds, but I really wanted to drop a few more before this trip. No suck luck. I am going to hit the treadmill hardcore for the next 10 days so I at least will be up for all the walking and standing and maybe, hopefully, drop another pound or two before we leave. (just to gain them back while we're there im sure) But its worth it!

 10 days......Woo Hoo!!!!

That tshirt is very cute!! I just can't wear those ladies tees...don't have the figure for them. I've lost 60lbs over the last 7 yrs but still need to drop another 40 before I'd feel comfortable wearing a more fitted shirt......lol I don't recall seeing it down there...but I wasn't looking too hard in that type for shirt. Hope you're able to find it!!

*+*+*Congrats on losing 20lbs!!!*+*+*

World of Color was awesome & worth every penny we paid for the dining package!! We were a group of 10 people so you know that was spendy. We got right on the railing & even the twins in their strollers were able to see with no one in front of them. Absolutely beautiful show, lots of loved characters & music in it. A must in my book!!

Well we got some sad news today, because it is so close to the wedding, our friends cant get the time off work for the trip. She thought she had it off a long time ago but just found out they scheduled her for both those days. However we are beginning plans for a December trip! :woohoo:
Although I am sad that I wont get to spend the trip with my best friend, it is always nice to have some time just me and my husband. :lovestruc We always have so much fun and go through the park holding hands and just enjoying each other. So I dont mind :goodvibes
Since it is 1:00 in the morning I can officially say only
7 DAYS UNTIL WE LEAVE!!!

I am so excited!

What a bummer your friends won't be joining you!! A trip for just you & your hubby does sound good though........we tried a couple only trip for our 25th Anniversary last year....by the time the trip came....we had 4 of our kids with us......lol!!

Hope you have a great time!! ONE WEEK!!!

Now we are thinking my brother might come, he hasnt been in like 7-10 years so that would be fun too, were up for anything and anyone so we will see who actually ends up going with us. We also made a change of plans to leave Thursday night after my husband gets off work and drive to Linda and Johns house so that we still get to see them and hang out for a little while on Friday. Then if my brother doesn't come we will spend part of Friday at the parks because we have annual passes. If he does come we will do DTD Friday night because Lonnie(my brother) hasn't seen it I dont think.

I got some Reef sandals today to wear in the parks. The first time we went I wore Old Navy flip flops and my feet were killing me, so now I make sure I have shoes with great support. It makes a huge difference! I still have to have sandals unless we go in the winter because I hate tennis shoes! So Reefs are a good option for me :thumbsup2 Next up the horribly hard task of figuring out what i am going to wear:confused3

I actually asked on the DIS for suggestions on sandals & ended up with Tevas......LOVED THEM!!! I wore them almost the entire time. I tried wearing my New Balance tennis shoes in the evenings, but it made my back & hips hurt horribly bad....so I wore the Tevas after that. I would never attempt just regular old flip flops....yikes!

Tevas were my second choice, but the reefs were a little cuter on me. I wear size 11:eek: so its hard finding shoes that dont look like canoes at the ends of my legs
