The following was downloaded from the Usenet News group REC.ARTS.DISNEY.PARKS. Note that it is almost 15 years old so the information as far as address, etc., may not be current. There were a lot of favorable comments to my response, which is at the bottom.

To Whom It May Concern,
I have been paying close attention to Disney's support for "gays". This is something that I cannot support. I would like to have a letter from Disney explaining your position, so that I do not have my facts wrong.

I am a father of a AAU competitor in the sport of Karate. I work as a coach and we bring a team from Alaska to AAU national events. My Daughter just returned from New Orleans La where she and I saw that AAU and Disney are partners.

I would hate to see an entire boycott of AAU against Disney, But your public support for gays is just something me and my family cannot be surrounded by.

Thank you for your attention in this matter.

Below is my response:

Subject: Gay protest

Sir (and I use the term loosely):

The Walt Disney Company (and consolidated subsidiaries) supports gays in the same way it supports, whites, blacks, Asians, arabs, native Americans, Christians, Jews, Moslems, Hindu, Shinto, handicapped, and any other group you can think of. In other words, it follows all non-discrimination laws and all non-discriminatory morals.

They even allow bigots; this means you!

By the way, neither I, nor my wife Judy, are gay. However, we have friends, co-workers and even relatives who are gay. One of my closest friends, who I have known for 35 years, recently had a sex change operation. (This concept must really scare the pants off you.)

Since you are active in the AAU, why don't you ask the association's headquarters if there are any rules or restriction concerning membership of gays in the organization. Also, why don't you ask them if there are any statistics or estimates as to gays in the membership.

Once you do that, as such a homophobe you should resign from the AAU as it does accept gays.

If you have not seen Hunchback, why don't you go to a very good movie which teaches a moral called tolerance, which you seem to not have. Even better, why don't you pack up your computer, move about 1,000 miles north, and stay in a place where nothing (except maybe a hungry polar bear) can bother you.

You have raised a good question which tells the world about you. I think you will get responses from a lot of people about your bigotry; it may be curable.

That was fabulous! The above response was the best. Made me giggle out loud. I wish I could find words like those when I need them.....my brain doesn't work that fast! :teeth:

What a great response! Thanks for sharing it. :)

*chuckle* I remember when you first showed me that. It still tickles my fancy!

The frightening thing is I was up at 7:00am on a Sunday morning and was able to write the response. What you see is a direct download without editing.

Sometimes that is the best way to do it.. without editing! It allows your pure thoughts to shine through!! That was priceless!!

Thanks!

Kathy

I am still shocked with thinking like this... I guess I'll never get use to it but the response was great.

Well Done!

:rotfl2: you know what's really funny...It probably did scare the pants off of him! No wonder he lives in Alaska

This has now had over 500 views but only a few comments. Any other comments?

I could say again, "That was great!" :)

:confused3

I guess I don't understand your involvement. Was that a letter you as a Disney employee responded to? If so, I don't think your response, no matter how "on target" is appropriate. If you were not responding in an official Disney capacity, I am not sure why you responded at all. :confused3

The reply was posted at a BB similair to this one. As the letter was posted there, the OPs reply was right on. Had the letter only gone to the Walt Disney Company, it probably would have never made it to the DIS or RADP.

Reading this several years after posting.

I was not a Disney employee. I was on a general Disney discussion board, when I saw this and was so outraged by the original poster that I had to respond. And, as I said in an earlier post, it was at 7:00 on a Sunday morning and I was not really awake.

R A D P....

Now that is a flash from the past!
