Any ideas? I get very dry skin in the winter, so I moisturizer. Then the moisturizer makes me break out, so I have to stop using it and use a face wash with acne medication. Then my skin dries out even more so I give in and moisturize. Repeat. It's a vicious cycle. I've tried a few different products but am hesitant to buy any expensive products unless I am confident that they will work. Any ideas are appreciated!

I use Cetaphil Antibacterial Bar for washing, and Cetaphil Lotion for Dry, Sensitive Skin.

The lotion is a bit expensive ($14), but it last a very long time. You only need about a dime size or even less depending on how dry your skin is. I even use it under my eyes.

Walgreens, CVS, etc occasionally have them buy one get one 50% off so I try to stock up then.

Aside from the random stress breakout, my face has been really clear since starting, it even reduced my crows feet to where you can only see them if I'm really squinting. And bonus is that I can use the lotion on my body too, so I have less items cluttering up the shelf :)

Try the Clinique 3 step. It's my favorite. The moisturizer is light and doesn't feel greasy at all.

In the morning I use Mary Kay Timewise for Combination skin. In the evening I use Cerave PM facial moisturizer.

When my son was on on Accutane he used the Cerave moisturizer in the jar - recommended by his dermatologist - because his skin was SO dry. Even on his face. I use it too! Not greasy at all and really absorbs into your skin. We all swear by that stuff!

Drink more water, wash your face less, once a day maybe, use a more gentle soap/cleanser. It is a cycle. If I wash my face more than once/day, I break out because it gets so dry and my skin produces more oil to make up for that. I use basic Oil of Olay in the winter as a light moisturizer. Anything heavier than that on my face and I break out.

I have really oily skin but also have winter moisturizing issues. I use Cetaphil Daily Facial wash and Cetaphil moisturizer. Works like a charm

:thumbsup2, Happy Snowman this is what I have been doing for years, over 40 now but used oil of olay even in my 20s. Plenty of plain water, wash only before bed and moisturize as soon as I'm out of the shower. Face wash needs to gentle too, I've used Nutregena, St Ives and currently have a Garnier balancing face wash going.

I love the Target brand of Oil of Olay. Its about $4-5 and is light and un_scented. Over the summer I bought the real Oil of Olay and hate it! The smell is over-powering, it mKes my eyes water and nose run and it is very heavy

Aveeno Baby, fragrance free daily moisture lotion! I started using this about 5 years ago and love it. I always used to have problems with cleansers/moisturizers til I started using this one. Has to be the Baby one tho.
I never use any cleanser on my face anymore. Just splash water vigorously and scrub lightly with a washcloth. Then while face is still moist, I apply the moisturizer.
About once a week or so I do a 'sugar' scrub on my face. Leaves it feeling so soft and clean.

Clinique. Different formulations of cleanser and moisturizer are available for dry, oily or combination skin. Clinique reps at department stores can help advise which is right for you.

My friends and family have all used Clinique for years.

Cetaphil. It's what a lot of pediatricians recommend for children with eczema because it's least likely to irritate.

I know there is probably something better, but I just picked up a travel size bottle of Johnson & Johnson Baby Lotion for my face. It is gentle enough that I can use it multiple times a day if needed.

My face dries horribly in the winter!

Oil of Olay has moisturizers that are unscented. I can only use unscented moisturizers in any brand.

Burts bees sensitive daily moisturizer.
It's gentle, not greasy, no odor, just a really nice product.

This is my regimen -- I wash my face with Dove and then I use Target Brand (Up and Up) Refining Serum as a base, followed by Oil of Olay Complete Daily Moisturizer for Sensitive Skin. I am 63 years old and so far this is working well for me. I am often complimented on my skin.

Another vote here for Cetaphil - it's what my dermatologist recommended and I've been using it for years. The bottle lasts forever (dime size once a day is all I use). I think it's the best product(s) out there.

Burt's Bees Intensive Hydration cleaner and moisturizer. Found these at Target after I was told I have dry skin at a facial. Tried others and these have worked for me not cheap but works great for me.

I have acne and dry skin. I used to be able to use Cetaphil lotion on my face and had no problems. Recently, however, it breaks me out every time. I use Oil of Olay cream in the winter and the lotion in warmer weather. It's the only thing I trust anymore.

ETA: I am able to use the Cetaphil gentle skin cleanser with no issues. I wouldn't say it cleans the best but it is nice for dry skin. I like Cetaphil lotion/cream on my body.

Let me tell you.......

I have finally found God's gift to dry skin! lol. I have always had dry skin my whole life, and then three years ago I had my ovaries out surgically so I have been in menopause for the past three years, which has made the dryness a little bit worse. Two years ago I went to my dermatologist and asked her for the best moisturizer. She gave me a prescription for something called Hylatopic Plus. It comes in a tub with a pump. The prescription costs over $300, but there's a coupon on the manufacturers website that you don't have to pay any more than $25 for it. So I pay $25 for this tub and it literally lasts me for a year and a half. This past January I went for a facial, and remember this is in the middle of winter, and the woman said that I had extremely moist skin! I don't think anybody has ever told me that in my entire life! LOL

So this year when I needed a refill, I didn't have a chance to go back to my dermatologist, but when I went for my yearly check up to my regular doctor, I asked her to prescribe it and she did. This stuff is amazing!! I'm thinking of using one of my refills for my body. Especially with winter coming up. It's the best stuff ever! And I've pretty much tried everything my whole life. This stuff is the bomb! :)
