Technology AND cake

Technology AND cake

Tandy 1000RLX! My first computer, bought it with my student loan money. It played a mean game of Kings Quest V
Kings Quest.....now that was a game. I believe I started on Kings Quest II myself.
My favorite computer game though was probably Wolfenstein 3-D. I can still remember downloading the demo (for like an hour). That is when games were games
ISDN was a good concept at the time, but unfortunately the phone company beat it down to the point where it became an "out of favor" technology. Poor service and no reinvestment of money to improve the technology was ultimately it's demise. Now cable is the dominant medium.

Not saying it isn't being used...It's just not as prominant as it could have been. The phone company(s) just didn't market it and expand it like they could have.Have no fear Aaron, ISDN is alive and well in the ATM market. It is still the preferred technology for connecting ATMs to at least the STAR network.
Space Quest, Leisure Suit LarryWolfenstein was a blast, along with Doom shortly after.

Wow.
I have to be honest here and say that I'm more than a little disappointed in some of the responses on this thread.
I value HONEST feedback, and I feel the OP was being honest, not a troll. In fact, I'm inclined to agree with his assessment (assuming the OP is a he, my apologies if I'm wrong).
Over the last three years, I notice the show will go in ebb's and flow's in terms of tone and content. Lately, because of some of the recent policy decisions yes, we've been critical. But it's not a matter of tactic or intent - we are legitimately responding to the topic at hand with our honest feelings. I think this weeks show was fairly positive. The new "Sum of all Thrills" got a great review, as did the new "Princess Tiana" show at MK. We call it like we see it.
As for your comment about people hanging around for 'give-aways', that's a bit ridiculous. You may not find the show to your liking, but I can promise you, our listener base has never been larger, or more vocal and we've given away far fewer 'gifts' this year than we did last year.
However, with that expansion of the listener base will come more criticism and honestly folks, that how we make the show better. Anyone that thinks we've reached the pinnacle of podcasting here is delusional. There are so many ways for this show and experience to improve it's obscene. We REALLY need to embrace HONEST commentary even when we disagree with it. After all, isn't that what so many like about the podcast? We tell it like it is. I'm sure there are many people who disagree with me on my opinions but I don't openly mock them. Yes, there have been more trolls on this board as of late, but let's not lump everyone who feels we need to improve into the troll category. That's unfair and we need to be as open to the criticism of others as we want Disney to be open to ours.
I really think the OP deserves an apology here and I would ask all of you who love the show to embrace what I hope is a core principle of it - tell it like it is. We may not always like what we hear, but we'll learn far more if we value HONEST opinion. End of lecture
Pete
The old days may not be so far away, there's a serious push on by Comcast, Verizon, ATT etc to find ways to make more money off of their internet services. Metering use is one of their great ideas, google Net Neutraility for more info
Sorry, I know I'm not supposed to feed the trolls, but sometimes you just need to say your peace. I've kept my mouth shut on most of the troll threads, but the above comment really pushed my buttons.
Looking for freebies? Really?!?!? I have called in, I have submitted facebook questions, and I have also written a few things. Probably 9 or so different occasions. Guess how many prizes I have accepted...... 2! I get the nice e-mail and I politely decline. I participate because I enjoy the show and I want to help provide information.
Go listen to Lou. I'm sure you'll like his everything is perfect at Disney, rose colored glasses podcast.
please don't rip on lou, he is great at his job and he is also an awesome person to know. There are more than enough podcasts to go around for everyone to enjoy.

My favorite computer game though was probably Wolfenstein 3-D. I can still remember downloading the demo (for like an hour) and thinking that computer gaming performance had peaked. That is when games were games

We were too poor for a computer but my friend down the street had a Tandy that was bought right about 1989 that played all the cool games. Kings Quest 5, Leisure Suit Larry, Sherlock Homes: Consulting Detective, The Dagger of Amon Ra, and of course Where in the World is Carmen Sandiego.
I haven't played a video game in years but would say that the best computer game I ever played was Kings Quest 5. The only rival is the NES game Baseball Stars.
The first computer we got in school was the Apple IIe:

We got one in 1988 that went on a car room to room once a week for computer class. I think the next year we had one in each room plus a computer lab. At this point I found Oregon Trail.
Remember when floppy disks were just that - 5 1/4" squares. I was so excited when 3 1/2" pre-formatted ones came out...
King's Quest - - - I loved those games and hated them at the same time.
Typing Jump, Jump, Jump 1 trillion times to try to leap over lily pads. Getting lost in the dark cave & trying to place a board over a chasm. I died so often...

I have never read a post on this forum. I saw the title on the main page and it piqued my curiosity. I spend most of my time staring longingly at the food porn threads, cake pictures, snack pictures.
I feel right at home now with all the cake pictures.![]()
Yummy!!
I have never paid attention to any podcasts. I'll need to do that now thanks to this thread. So I think this thread could have a positive spin. People like me are being pulled into this resourceJust my positive cake, errr, take on the situation.
Welcome! The people here are nuts, I'm nothing like them. Whatever they say about me is a LIE! A DIRTY LIE I TELL YOU!!!
