Another vote for the Martini and Rossi Asti - my tradition for the week between Xmas and New years - my Asti and a Godiva chocolate or two in the evenings - almost never drink alcohol the rest of the year. Asti around Xmas and then again for Mimosas Easter weekend.
I don't usually like champagne myself, but we had a bottle of Veuve Cliquot sp? on Christmas Eve and it was very nice. Hubby brought it home from work so I'm not sure how expensive it is.

I know I'll get razzed for this one but I love the Andre's Pink Champagne. I drink it on a regular basis...ok well not THAT much.....anymore. Anyway, its like $4 a bottle. Nice cheap buzz. My hubby just calls it my "pink stuff"! We do however have a nice bottle for tonight, something that was given to us as a gift.
I am absolutely no expert and don't even like wine, to be honest, but it has generally been my experience that people who say they don't like champagne have never had good champagne. Unlike most regular wines, where it is possible to get a decent bottle for a pretty low price, it just isn't possible with champagne. If you think you don't like champagne, treat yourself some special occasion and get a bottle of Piper-Heidsieck or some other quality brand. Yes, it may cost you $30 or $40, but it is night and day compared to the cheap stuff.
BTW disneymcgraw, a bottle of Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin Brut goes for about $35, so right in that price range I'm referring to.
