We'll be flying about 5,000 miles to take our 5-year old daughter to Disneyland. We've been planning this trip for 3-months and I'm about in tears for everything that will be closed when we arrive for our 5-day trip in early September.

No Pirates
No Haunted Mansion
No Fantasmic
No World of Color
No Blue Bayou
No fireworks
No parades

We've been excited to finally see WOC. And our adventurous daughter's been excited for pirates and haunted mansion (my favorites). I feel very, very sad.

Bummer! I didn't realize WOC would be gone then. But it will still be magical! At least you get the new rides and low crowds!

I don't know where you heard about WoC, parade and F! being down.

If you go 5 days you always hit one of the weekend days in DLR, Fri, Sat and Sun and they run full entertainment on those days.

While HM and POTC will be down, there is still plenty to see and do.

I'm sorry about the ride closures, but World of Color should still be playing at least once per night, and Fantasmic! should still be playing on the weekends. Disneyland doesn't post their entertainment schedules that far in advance. I just checked online and they don't have the entertainment for the month of September posted yet. They should be posting the entertainment for September soon. I know it doesn't fix Pirates and Haunted Mansion being down, but you'll still have a chance to see WOC.

Sorry you won't get to enjoy all those things, but sadly this is a common thing for early September as it is off-season. Next time try to plan for an October trip; nice weather, not many (if any) closures, Halloween parties and decent crowds

Pirates is our favorite ride as it involves a lot of fond memories and traditions. We would be bummed if it were closed while we visited. Still, we would write it off because we go several times per year.

However, if we could only visit once every 5+ years, we would reschedule our vacation days, flights, and hotel arrangements IF financially possible. It's not an inexpensive option, but it doesn't hurt to data check. :)

Really??? You think the entertainment will still be there??? Great sigh of relief. They aren't on the schedule yet, but if they post entertainment later than other things (like ride closures) then there's still some hope.

IMO, Pirates and HM should NEVER be closed at the same time, but my "intense sadness" will be upgraded to an easier "bummed out" if the entertainment is still there.

I think we'll have to plan for Halloween next time. It sounds like fun. Been to DL countless times, but never during the holidays. Odd.

My hubby and actually had a big argument about it yesterday because I DID want to reschedule. He didn't grow up with DL so he doesn't understand. But there are so many logistic issues and financial losses that he won the argument. If I could change his mind, we'd reschedule - but he's adamant.

To be honest, if this were me, and I faced a five day trip with so many attraction closures, I'd be very mad and would cut my visit short. Very short, and maybe do like one or two days at Disney instead, and take the other 3 days to visit other places in southern California. Maybe visit other amusement parks, some zoos, museums, beaches, etc. because there is so much to do in the area just besides Disney.

I normally visit Disney in the off season (September and October) and so many attractions down at once is ridiculous. In fact, maybe its just me, but I can't remember that many different things being refurbished in such a short period of time, and I've been going ever fall for maybe the past 30 years. I expect some things to be down, and entertainment offerings to be less, but really Disney, that much? I certainly won't be visiting this September because of it.

I think that WoC and Fantasmic and parade times just haven't been announced yet. they are not canceling them but DL tends to wait longer to put them on their site than WDW does. They are not out for my dates either. I have that HM will be closed and I am disappointed but it's not too bad when I look at the long list of things that will be open.

The entertainment schedule always takes a while to show up on the calendar.....so if they're not listed in the Refurbs......they should be running at some point during your 5 day stay.

We're going the first week of October & are disappointed that Pirates will be down during the Halloween season. My 4 yr old autistic daughter sings the Yo-Ho song all the time (I mean to the point of driving us nuts)....so having that closed has even more meaning for our family. Am I gonna change our dates?? Heck no.....there's so much more to enjoy that a few things not running won't keep us from having a great time!

Hope you find that you don't even miss the rides that are down during your visit!! Have a *+*+*Magical*+*+* trip!!

I'm so sorry that so many attractions are down while you visit. That sucks, even more so because you can't just go back the next month.

We can't go often either so if even 1 ride is down I'm bummed out.

:goodvibes I'm sorry OP; I'd be bummed out too but it looks like you'll still get F!, WoC, and fireworks so that's terrific. You will still have plenty to do. There are so many little magical places at Disneyland aside from the E ticket attractions. Take your time to explore the parks, meet the characters if that's something your DD would like, get great spots for F!, WoC, and the fireworks. No POTC and HM eliminates only a little that Disneyland and DCA have to offer. :goodvibes

I don't blame anyone for being upset about this many closures. We've been there when POTC was closed, and it did put a damper on our trip. Not a huge one, as that was pretty much all that was closed. Now add the others in to it? Yeah I would have changed my dates IF I could. I get that it's the time of year they work on things, but they should try to at least space things out the best they can.

Oh, I'm so sorry, also living in Hawaii I know how much it costs to go to the mainland, and to Disney makes it even more. I hope when it get's closer to your dates you find it won't be so bad. Your daughter is still going to have a wonderful time and I hope you all get to see fireworks at least once.

I think hours are shorter at that time, and for us Hawaii people it works in our favor with the time difference, DD was 3 1/2 last time we went in Dec. and it was way easier to get there are opening when the parks opened at 9, and we didn't mind it closing at 8 as it forced us to leave and get to bed early. When we went when she was just 2 we never got there before 10 and ended up closing the park every night, she couldn't handle the time change.

You are going to have a blast! Don't worry, hugs oxoxox

They should always have a parade, that was one of Walts deals, a parade everyday, so you should have one

Thanks so much to everyone for your encouraging and sympathetic remarks. The greatest value, too, was the reassurance that they have yet to post the full entertainment schedule for that time. At least I'm able to digest the news of the POTC/HM/BB closures so I can get the dissapointment out of my system now with no surprises when we get there. I'm feeling better now. Thanks so much everyone!!! :flower3: :goodvibes pirate:

Not knowing your exact dates, I really think the only things from your list that you need to be concerned about are:
- Pirates
- Haunted Mansion
- Blue Bayou (by default when Pirates is closed)

I wouldn't be sad about it. Yes, you will miss two attractions and a restaurant, but that is out of LOTS of things to see and do and enjoy.

Focus on the countless other things that WILL be running. Give the entertainment schedule time to fill in. I would be extremely surprised if there is not a variety of offerings at least on the weekend.

- Dreams

I am always bummed to see someone disappointed.

However, I never quite get it when people choose to not visit this forum before making decisions like trip dates and then after their decisions are made and they missed all of the good advice we could have given they come here to be sad. :confused3
