As much as I absolutely love the movie, the book is so much better!

I must be the only female on this planet who didn't like Gone With The Wind.

All that fiddle de de got on my nerves........ The only redeeming character was Rhett Butler - Ashley and Melanie were such wimps, and Scarlett just annoyed me in general. My favorite part of the movie was the ending where Rhett finally wises up.

I would like to try and attempt to read the book though.

Snoopy, you really should read the book. The movie leaves out so much (as most book-based movies do).

And yes, Ashley's a wimp, but I always thought Melanie was tough as nails, in her own quiet way.

GWTW is my favourite movie of all time. I have seen it tons of times. We have it on video and DVD. I just adore the whole civil war era. I collect GWTW memoribilia, plates, mugs, figurines etc. I think it's time to dust off the DVD and watch it again!
