I am curious about people's opinions of the impact that the new gondola to Epcot will have on CBR. Will the new mode of transportation negatively impact the relaxing laid back atmosphere of the resort? I have to admit that I am a bit surprised at the pictures that I have seen posted of the support pillars for the gondola lines. There doesn't seem to be any effort to blend them into the decor. Will any negative impact be lessened or exacerbated when the gondolas are running? Is the additional mode of transportation worth the potential disruption to the wonderful atmosphere that is a large part of the charm of staying at CBR?

What do you think?

We were very surprised after a recent stay how we weren't bothered at all by the supports around the resort. Now, once it starts running and the Gondolas are passing overhead may be completely different. We will have to wait until then to see how we feel.

I bet Guests who check into these rooms are REALLY SUPRISED!lol:)

I am withholding judgment until the Gondolas are up and running, but it does seem difficult to imagine how they won't affect the "serenity" of CBR.:)

Another factor that I have not seen discussed anywhere is the possibility of a lot of POP/Guests using the new easy Gondola access to "pop" over to CBR and eat at Spyglass/Sebastian's/Centertown Market.:)

I really hope they are going to do something to those ghastly poles to make them blend with the resort a little more. That gun-metal gray is horrible.

I agree that you can't really judge yet - however I like the thought of popping over to AoA or Pop for a quick bite.

Yes,this is going to be an interesting "dynamic"-the first Value and Moderate/DVC Resorts with "easy access" to each other.

AoA/POP and CBR/DRR may feel like "Sister" Resorts as time goes on(WITHOUT POOL HOPPING before anyone gets alarmed!lol).:)

I stayed at CB about 10 years ago. Where is all the lush landscaping I remember? The pole appears large and close to the building? Or is it just the angle at which this photo is taken?

The Landscaping is still there-just not by the pole!lol:)

The pole is RIGHT by the building and is HUGE-it is one of the "highest points" on the route from the CBR Station to the DRR Station.

The angle may make the pole appear a little taller, but it is still very tall and big.:)

The pole looks almost industrial in nature and just out of place. It looks strong enough to support a gondola or two for sure! Which is certainly what we want.

I guess a photo from further away might make it look less stark. Not really sure.

I saw the big poles at the boardwalk resort in October. They were only out on the parking lot though at that time. If they show up on the boardwalk when I am there next month, I will have an issue.

I would wager many dollars that, by the time they are done, there are large trees planted below/at each base, and that they're painted whimsical colours and/or disguised in some other way. This is Disney- this is what they do ;). Have a little faith. Of course when they're put up they're going to look like industrial transportation infrastructure- that's what they are. And they won't paint them/make them pretty until last- lest the creations get damaged as they're put together.
