We bought into DVC in Sep and are making our first trip back in Sep. I remember our guide telling me that DVC members get a round of golf for $20 at Buena Vista golf course at SSR (which is where we will be staying). I can't find that perk anywhere except something about discounted golf with some annual membership. My golf clubs would like to know.:confused3

we are just back from a golfing trip. three of us played every day we were there. joined as dvc members. initial fee of $50. courtesy ride to and from courses. played all 4. did not play 9 hole. best bet is to go to disney golf site and check in to it. well worth it. never paid just $20. hope we did not miss out on something. had real problems with the cabbies not knowing where the courses were located. i know - can you believe that!!

Disney's Oak Trail Golf Course

Disney Vacation Club Golf Membership cardholders can now hit the links of Disney's Oak Trail Golf Course at a discounted rate of $20 per 9-hole round! Ideal for a family outing or a quick nine, this par-36 walking course winds through a natural setting rich with deer, wild turkeys, and other birds and wildlife.

The discounted rate applies for a Member and up to three Guests and is valid during all operating hours including tee times before 10:00 A.M. As an added benefit, Juniors can play the course for just $15 per 9-hole round when accompanied by a Golf Membership cardholder.

Call the Golf Master Starter at 407-939-1313 for a tee time, or book online at www.disneyworldgolf.com. All tee times are subject to availability.
The above info is from the DVC Member Portable Perks. As you can see, the only $20 round is for 9 holes at Oak Trail but that's ok. The October rates of $79/$59 for DVC golf members for 18 holes are an amazing savings off of the resort guest price of $135! (for Osprey Ridge & Magnolia, Palm & LBV are $125)

We've had the Golf Membership and love it!!! The first time we got it, 3 of us played a round at Eagle Pines (before it closed obviously ;) ) The savings of just that round more than covered the cost of the membership :thumbsup2 it covered DS's round :cool1:

The DVC Golf Discount card is well worth the money, expecially if you are planning on a few rounds of golf a year. I have had it for a number of years.

Oak Trail is also a nice little course for a quick 9. My DB-I-L and I have golfed there in the early morning to get an inexpensive round before joining the rest of the family for the day.

Welcome to DVC.

And speaking of golf at WDW, I will be at SSR, Feb. 21-25, if any DVC members are interested in meeting for a round of golf.

How far ahead of time can you book tee times using the DVC membership card? DH used to have it, but you could only book tee times for after 10:00am at that time. And since he golfs every day, having to book after 10:00 really made it difficult to do much else. Since then, he's used the AP discount. But now, since you can book tee times for before 10:00, he might consider it again. But how far ahead can you call for tee times? He used to be able to call 2 months ahead for May times, and for some courses he really needed to to get the times he wanted.

Little off topic...but when I seen this thread "GOLFERS", I flashed back to Caddyshack:lmao:, the part where the grounds keeper is telling Bill Murray to kill all the "gophers" on the course...Sorry just had to say thanks for the giggle :rotfl2:

If your DH goes to the official Disney World website :surfweb: , he can book his tee times on-line, including tee times using the DVC discount and the AP discounts. I use that website all the time. I haven't called for a tee time at Disney in several years.

Hi Dave,
I'll be there Feb 21-26 would like to finally hook up with you for a round or 2,
I've been trying to get some decent starting time but can't seem to, do you already have tee times, if so count me in.
Looking forward to seeing you again.
I'll be at BCV

Let me know if it works for you

Hi George-That sounds great. I was thinking of getting out either Mon or Tues. When were you trying to get out, and at which course? I have a tee time for one person at LBV Monday afternoon, but that can change.

Hi Dave,
I've got sunday at 11:12 LBV or monday at 10:30 Osprey Ridge, both tee times are for 2 people, let me know if either works for you.

Let me know, looking forward to getting together.
Did you know that Debbie is working the bar at the Prime Time Rest. at Hollywood studios temporarily while Typhoon Lagoon is closed.
Talk to you soon

You can book 90 days in advance except for prime season which usually runs from about mid-Jan to end of April, during which you can book 14 days in advance. Usually you should not have trouble getting something close to time you want and course you want even calling 14 days out. With AP discount you can book 14 days in advance and that is year round. Note that new before 10 a.m. DVC discount usually is better than AP discount.

Hi George,

I think Monday works the best for me...Lori and I have plans for Sunday.

Do you know when Debbie is working at Prime Time? I should drop her a note to say hi and try to stop in for a drink to say hi in person.

Hi Dave,
Not sure what days Debbie is working, I just e-mailed her to find out so I'll let you know as soon as I do, perhaps we could meet there for a drink.
Monday sounds good for golf.
PM me with your cell and I'll give you mine so we can keep in touch while we're at WDW.

Debbie is working Sat 2/21, Tue 2/24, and Wed 2/25.
I'll probably be there Sat, around 2 to 3, I'll be checking in at BCV around 1 and then will head over to Prime Time.
Maybe I'll see you there.
I'm sending you a PM with my cell #

I just looked. It's 90 days for resort guests, 60 days for non Disney resort guests.

I just found this on another WDW fan site. I guess my issues with bringing my own clubs are solved:

Complimentary golf club rental for guests staying at Walt Disney World Resort hotels
May 19, 2009

For the period May 1 2009 - December 31 2010, Disney are offering complimentary golf club rental to Walt Disney World resort hotel guests.

Terms & Conditions:

One complimentary club rental for any Guest staying at select Walt Disney World Resort hotels who purchases a non-discounted round of golf at the Palm, Magnolia, Lake Buena Vista or Osprey Ridge Golf Courses. (Select WDW Resort hotels are Disney-owned and -operated Resorts as well as the WDW Swan and WDW Dolphin Hotels.)
Disney offers Titleist and Cobra rental clubs.
Disney Resort Guests receive range balls and transportation to and from their select Walt Disney World Resort hotel.

Not valid with any other discount or offer.

Now I just have to majke sure that SSR is condidered a WDW resort, not some sort of DVC stepchild.

SSR is considered a WDW resort but this discount does not apply for any round done with the DVC discount. Key phrase is you must "purchase a non-discounted round of golf." In other words you have to pay full price the round to get free clubs.

I just have a few quick questions for the golfers out there. My DH and I are planning on doing the Oak Trail course but we don't know anything about it. Does it get crowded during the day? My DH is a great golfer but I am just learning. Will it be somewhat challenging for him? Thanks for any info you have on that course.

Yes Oak Trail can be challenging to a good player. It is actually mostly short par 4s with fairly narrow fairways and on a couple a good player can consider trying to drive the green.

However, be aware that it is heavily occupied by beginners and often kids, gets crowded and pace of play can be very slow.

I would do Oak Trail as early as possible if you want to avoid sloooow play. It's a cute course. We teed off at 8AM and it was not too slow. That was the middle of January. I was really impressed with Osprey Ridge but I think that when the hotel is finished, we will not be able to play that course. I heard it will be semi-private.
