We are thinking of doing an adult only trip and would like to golf. Which course would br good? Where do I call to get info on rates and tee times?

could someone tell me how to get the dvc golf discount.

i understand we have to pay a yearly fee, but who to? do i pay when i go down or do i have to get a card of some sort from dvc?

You can get the DVC golf membership at any of the Disney course pro shop.
The cost is $50 and will expire at the end of the month you purchase it in the following year.
I play quite a bit on the Disney courses and personally rate them as follows:

Easiest and therefore my favorite is LBV
The prettiest (most scenic) I think is Osprey Ridge. The property has been sold so it probably won't be a Disney course for too many more years.
The most difficult for me is Magnolia.
They are all usually is decent condition.

If you book online, check the box for DVC golf member and it will give you the discounted rate.
The best rate is for play after 10am

Four 18-hole courses: Magnolia, Palm, Lake Buena Vista and Osprey Ridge. All are good. Osprey is the most impressive of them all. Magnolia is the main course used for the annual PGA tournament in Nov along with the Palm which is used only the first two days. LBV meanders through the SSR and OKW resort areas. In difficulty hardest to easiest: Palm and Osprey, Magnolia, LBV. None is overly difficult or overly easy. You can reserve tee times up to 90days in advance by calling 407-WDW-Golf or going on-line to Disney's site and its golf course section -- exception, if using AP discount you can call only 14 days in advance and are supposed to call rather than reserving on line; reality is that if you call 7 days in advance you can usually get what you want or something close to it, except if intending to play Sat or Sun (or a holiday) call somewhat earlier. If you are less then four players then they will usually automatically hook you up with others to make four in the group.

As far as discounts:

1. DVC: you must buy DVC golf member card for $50 plus tax. You purchase it when you show up for your first round of golf and it is good for a year (you need your DVC Member Card to purchase it); you can make DVC tee times 90 days in advance without the card, you just buy it when you get there. You and up to three persons playing with you get a 40% discount off the resort guest price for after 10 times and 25% for before 10 times.

2. Whether DVC is the best discount depends. For after 10 times it usually cannot be beat. However, if you want to play before 10 times it depends. Disney always has a discounted two round pass that you can buy (any resort guest can buy it). That 2-day pass is sometimes less per round than the 25% DVC discount; for example for Oct to Jan last year it was less per round than the DVC 25% discounted rate, currently it is a few dollars more than the 25% DVC discounted rate; when it is more per round it is not more by much and you have to consider that you don't have to buy the $50 DVC card to get it so unless you are going to do a large number of rounds in a year it will still be the better buy if you are going to do an even number of before 10 rounds.

3. There is a discount if you have an annual park pass. It is 30% off the regular day guest rate. It is actually a somewhat higher rate than the DVC 25% discounted rate because the DVC 25% is off the resort guest rate which is lower than the regular day guest rate. However, its rate per round usually ends up being only a few dollars more than the DVC 25% discount and you don't have to buy the DVC golf member card to use it.

I enjoy them all, but interestingly I like Osprey and LBV both the best. As someone else said, Osprey is a beautiful course. It has changing elevations, dense forests, gourgeous views and no adjacent fairways to where every hole is truly on its own and you'll hardly ever see another golfer ... an excellent golfing experience. LBV is a different feeling, what with OKW and SSR bordering it, but I find it fun and have had fun exchanges with folks on their balconies at OKW. Maybe I'm biased, too, as OKW is one of our home resorts and perhaps my favorite, so I enjoy playing golf meandering through one of my favorite places to be.

This isn't meant to diminish either Magnolia or Palm, just that I personally enjoy these other two better. They're all fun, though. One additional course that hasn't been mentioned yet is Oak Trails ... a nine hole walking only course. Fun to do, too!

I recommend Osprey as the better one and more impressive....if you play from the back it can be difficult though!
