Any golfers out there?

I just made reservations for my husband and our friend next week. It occured to me that we are using Disney transportation for our entire trip. What is the best way to get from our resort (Port Orleans - Riverside) to the course.

Also, what course(s) would you recommend?

THANKS! :)

Transportation is provided at no charge (via taxi) to and from select Walt Disney World® Resorts for Guests playing at one of Disney's golf courses. The Valet Desk or Bell Services will call a cab for Guests. The Pro Shop or the golf operations staff at the golf course will assist Guests in returning to their Resort.

For additional information or assistance, please call our Master Starter at (407) 938-GOLF (938-4653)†. † If you are under 18 years of age, you must have your parent or guardian's permission to dial this number.

per disneyworld.disney.go.com official disneysite

we have used this service before from the bwi, pofq, cs & akl and it went smoothly.

our favorite course is osprey ridge, near epcot.

Yeah! I made the tee time at Osprey Ridge (only because I saw 4.5 out of 5 stars). Thanks for the recommendation! :)

Do you tip the taxi drivers? How much?!?!?!?

To DH, WDW is a golf resort (theme parks? sometimes in the evening) He agrees that Osprey Ridge is probably the best, most picturesque choice. The front desk at your resort can get you free taxi service, and the course can get you a shuttle back to your hotel when you're done (again, free). For lots more info on the different courses, this is a great website:

I was there back in March and I played Palm and Magnolia. Both are home to the Funai Classic in Late September/Early Oct. I got a 2'fer package. Two rounds of golf for 199.00. I could play any of the 5.

Palm kicked my butt on the front side, but I recovered and played better on the back side. Magnolia has the Par 3 with the "Mickey Mouse Trap" guarding the front side. Im a 13 handicap and I ended up shooting an 84 there. From what I have heard they closed Magnolia to get it into top shape for the golf tournament.

Next time I go, Ill play Magnolia again as Lake Buena Vista and Osprey Ridge.

Lake Buena Vista goes around and through the Old Key West Resort area. When you take the boat from POR you will see some of the course. I believe it is the shortest of the course, but it is also alot of fun.

Transportation is taken care of by arranging a cab at the bell desk. I too gave a couple of bucks extra to the driver. Nice thing is that you can leave your clubs at the clubhouse. They will store them for you and also transfer the bags to another clubhouse if you are playing somewhere else the next time.

You really cant go wrong with any of the courses.

Your baby is beautiful!

Just something to know, maybe for your next visit...there are great lessons available at WDW. i surprised my DH for our anniversary in May...got him the 45 minute videotaped lesson. he said he really learned a lot from it and it was well worth the $75. he said the pro spent more like an hour and a half with him, but don't expect that...i think the pro just did not have any other lessons scheduled after DH.

Also, to Simba's Mom...i think a LOT of men feel the same way as your DH does about golf at WDW! the pro told my DH that the golf course actually LOSES money, but in the grand scheme of things, they will always keep the course up and running because they know it keeps a lot of guests coming back time and time again.

Eagle Pines is at the same place as Ospry Ridge, just as nice and a little easier.
