I don't know where else to ask this question so I decided to turn to my DVC friends. My dad, brother-in-law, sisters boyfriend and husband want to play golf at Magnolia. I read there is a AP discount of 30%. Is that discount applied to the foursome or just the AP holder? My BIL would be the only AP holder.

On a side note, I am not a golfer and this last minute "We want to play golf" has caused havoc on my planning. Where will I find 4+ hours for them to play? Grrr. Guess I'll have to book a spa treatment to occupy my time :goodvibes

Thanks,
Blakely

There is a 30% annual pass discount for a foursome from the undiscounted full rate at any time. Twilight rates are not discounted.
The DVC Golf Membership may be your best bet for 4 people. For the $50 membership price, you could get up to $100 off pp each round! Depending on when you are going the discounts can be really big. I played a $159 round in may for $59 @ 8AM. Now the DVC membership covers tee times before 10:00am at a measly $20 extra, which was a big problem before as it gets HOT at mid day.

Do the math and find you best deal, and consider if you are coming back in a yr.

I would have everyone golf at 8am and then all meet up for lunch and you can SLEEP IN!!!... bet you never did that in Disney!

Thanks Bob. I am going to look into the DVC Golf Membership. I read briefly about it but did not crunch numbers. Our plan is for them to golf at 1pm (November) then meet us for dinner. It would be our AK day so I think they would be too tired to golf early then meet us later. Unless the price was right ;)

For after 10 a.m. time in November for 4 at Magnolia, it will be cheaper for you to purchase the DVC annual golf card ($50 plus tax) and do the DVC discount rather than the AP discount (both of those apply to cardmember and up to 3 guests in the same foursome with the cardmember) . The DVC per person charge will be $59 plus tax. The AP per person charge will be $101 plus tax. Overall, buying the DVC card and using its discount will cost you about $110 less for the 4-person round than using the AP discount. Note, that you can call and reserve a tee time up to 90 days in advance if using DVC discount (you can also make them on-line at Disney's site) and you do not actually buy the annual discount card until you show up at the clubhouse to play the round.

Sounds to me like the DVC Golf membership is just the thing for your trip. Also, remember that the group can get a taxi from your resort to the golf course and back on Disney. Bell services will call the cab and give them a voucher to go to the golf course and the Pro Shop at Magnolia/Palm will call the cab and give them the voucher to go back to the resort. The last time we used this service, the vouchers included the tip for the driver.

Would DVC membership make sense for DH to get: He and buddy will be playing for two days, once at Magnolia and I'm not sure where else to set him up at. Playing both times at Magnolia or try somewhere else? We are going Oct 4 -9th.

In October, you can make a case for a membership for just one person for one round. DVC membership $50.00 + 1 greens fee at Magnolia after 10 AM $59.00= $109.00. Greens fees for resort guest golf at Magnolia= $135.00. Since the member can have up to a full foursome each time he or she plays on the card, it gets even more attractive real quick. And, it is good for a full year so with proper planning, you can get 2 trips out of the membership just like with an AP. DW and I had 32 rounds on our last golf membership.

I really like all of the Disney courses, but if Ospery Ridge is still available in October, I would highly recommend they play that course. In my opinion it is the best course on property.

We are going Oct 4 -9th.

By the way, you can book those tee times on line right now for the 4th through the 6th. The rest of your stay will come into the window by the end of the week. Tee times can be booked at www.disneygolf.com. Indicate that you will be using the DVC Golf Membership even though you haven't purchased it yet. You will purchase it when you check in for your first tee time

Oct 6th can't be booked tonight yet, even though it comes up. It is showing no tee times anywhere that day. Tomorrow is 90 days from 6th so it should have tee times in AM... maybe midnight tonight.

Thanks for the info! If DH wants to play before 10am would DVC membership still make sense?

then its 79x2 plus $50 membership =$208 for two players
AP rate (if you have it) is $97 anytime so 2 players are $194
then the DVC golf pass is only worthwhile if you do at least one more round in yr.
I'll use mine for 4 rounds this yr! Justify more trips to WDW!
