A company I was introduced to last year is CUSTOM CARRIAGES, INC According to their Regional Sales Manager (they have 5 locations around Florida) they have 2 passenger, 4 passenger and 6 passenger golf cars available for rental. Additionally, they offer gas and electric vehicles, although electric is preferable due to less noise and pollution.

Rental rates are $225 per week for any of these vehicles, or a long term rental is $450 per month for these types of vehicles. Pickup and delivery is $50 roundtrip. They will deliver the vehicle to FW, coordinated in advance. Also, a rental agreement must be signed and faxed to them before delivery can be made. Payment by check or cash due upon delivery of vehicles.

On my last trip to Fort Wilderness I tried out their services. On the appointed day they rode up to my site in the cart and the day were were leaving they picked it up at the site. The down side to their services is that they do not pick up or deliver on the weekends. But, if you are staying for a couple of weeks and want a cart you can save money this way. If you are staying longer than a week and want a cart around all the time this may be an option to save a few dollars.

I was under the impression that Disney didn't allow outside companies to deliver the carts any longer. Can you tell me what arrangements you made...how was it that they came to your site? Sounds like a good alternative.

You are correct, Disney does not openly allow outside deliveries, but i guess like a lot of other things they look the other way.

Before, companies drove a trailer right to the site and unloaded there. Now they just park in the outer lot, unload the cart and drive it to your site (or you can arrange to meet them up front).

I just talked to them, they faxed a contract and agreed on a delivery day/time.

Again, this option only saves you money if you are staying long enough and you want a cart every day.

As the outside companies rent carts for all types of events just make sure you get a cart that fits Disney standards:

• Lights (driving &tail/brake)
• Electric (Disny frowns on gas carts)
• Windshield
• Rearview mirrors
• Charger

Plus, even though you have your own "non-Disney" cart you are required to follow Disney cart rules including the age of drivers.

I get a rate of $38 per day including the delivery charge. Do they also charge tax?

What does FW rent for? I think it was about $46 per day total.
