I posted on the resorts board before finding this camping thread, sorry if this is duplicative.

Anyway, please tell me about carts. Everything from do I need one to where do I park one. Pricing details would help as well. Since I will be traveling with twins who have some mobility issues I am guessing we need a cart if we are going to stay at FW.

Thanks for any info.

Well, if you do a search of this forum for golf cart, you will get enough info to keep you busy for hours. There also may be info in the sticky FAQ thread.

Quick answers. You do not NEED a cart as there are busses that will take you where you need to go. If you are worried about mobility issues, request a site/cabin near the bus stop, just let the know it is a medical issue as they will try harder to accomodate the request. We have never rented a golf cart despite our large brood, no matter how young they were. Some people can't live w/o them. I just can't see renting one just to drive it to the marina to hop a bus into the parks. That is a $25 each way trip. Not worth it to me. Some people like to rent them on a day they aren't going into the parks just to explore the campground.

Prices are about $50 a day, you need to reserve it about a year in advance or you may not get one as they book up fast. As for parking, you can park it at your site/cabin and there is parking at the main bus stops where you catch a bus to the parks.

I think that sums it up.

I booked about 2 months in advance without problem... but was booking for a slow week. They even had carts available for walk ups mon-thurs while I was there.

Thanks! I did try the search function, but golf carts campground did not yeild any matches. :confused3

Do feel bad I haave never gotten the search to fine anything. No matter what I type as key words the search yields no results.

When Dreambound gets back, ask her. We gave her all the answers.... We have her now doing User Acceptance Testing at the Fort. If all is well, and she comes back having a great time, she'll be ready to go.

You have over 6,000 posts and just found out about this thread?

LOL! Don't worry about it imgonnabe40 -- I'm kinda in my own little DIS world too. I don't think I've ever stepped foot (fingers?) in the Crafting board, the California board, the UK board, and some of the others. And, I've been here for 11 years!! :lmao:

You gotta six foot giraffe???? Where the heck did you find that thing??? I wonder how giraffe tastes if marinated with Cajun Injector? Who would you get to fillet a giraffe? What kind of wine would flatter the giraffian flavor? Would one use a lime/butter sauce, or would A-1 suffice?

May I suggest marinating the giraffe in FtWGuy's Kungaloosh for about 45-60 minutes, boning and rolling the flank portion with a delectable stuffing made with ground peacock, italian bread crumbs, butter, lime juice, diced onions, mushrooms, celery and a pinch of rosemary;(salt and pepper to taste). Bake in a 350 oven for about 90 minutes - or until the internal temperature reaches 160 degrees. Remove from oven and let stand for 15 minutes before carving.

Suggested wine - 2002 Alazar Merlot

Suggested beer - Anything on sale at Publix (but preferably Sam Adams)

Suggested side - Green Bean Casserole & Jello Salad (I'm Lutheran)

You may enhance the flavor of the giraffe by adding a dollup of Daisy Sour Cream and a splash of Texas Pete Hot Sauce.

Suggested dessert - Nothing!! Dessert does not go with Merlot or Beer!

Bon Apetit' - Debbie

FtWGuy - You can make a mustard dipping sauce by blending Weber's Mustard & Kungaloosh in a 2 to 1 ratio. Yep! That should do it! (Rachel Ray ain't got nothing on me - except she's younger - but I'm cuter!)

Wow Deb..........You're quick!!!! Lets go get a giraffe!!! Move over Rachel, Deb's in da house!!

Based on recommendations from this board, we decided to rent a cart... sorta last minute. So, we called Steve Sensei (?) of Custom Carriages.... 407.568.2122 his weekly rate was $275 and if you need delivery to the campsite, the total, including tax was $292.88.

Very very nice man, i highly recommend him and his service. He went *way* above and beyond for us.... feel free to pm me for any additional info you may need.
